58 DAYS UNTIL WOOSTER.  121 DAYS UNTIL THE DANNIES.

47-0

Excellent art with the lead story on D3football.com.  The easy part is figuring out which game that shot is from.  The tougher part is figuring out which one of Spencer's nine kickoffs from that game is featured.   :)

Regardless of recruiting class size, the real question for the Lords is when are they going to beat Denison in Granville again?  I believe it's only happened once since 1900 (1987) on a blocked field goal attempt return for a TD and two point conversion (8-7) late in the game.  We went 3-1 over the Big Red 89-92, but we had them at home 3 times.

Really?  Kenyon has only won in Granville once in over 100 years?  The Lords get their shot at Piper-Deeds in week 11 this year.  New coach at  Denison, a little transition there...you never know.  Kenyon might spring a November upset there.

Second year is still pretty new, right?   :)

Nice catch, ADL.

Slow day at work, so I looked this up...MIAA In Exile is 100% correct as far as I can tell.  Kenyon has only beaten Denison at Denison once since 1900.  There were ties in 1904 and 1995, but only the single victory in 1988.  That's an incredible stat.

Wasn't the 89-92 era with the three wins at Gambier the CC era @ QB?

CC has the distinction of being one of only 4 Lords (ever) to go 4-0 against Denny Doo.   They won at home his first, third and fourth years and the infamous win in Granville his sophomore season.
He was the starting QB for two of them.  The QB ahead of him was invited to throw for a few pro teams and started for four years, but CC got on the field anyway he could, punter, defensive back, kick off team.

I hadn't heard that the NCAC is going to a full round robin next year.  I hope that the (only) non-conference game for Wooster will be Case, to keep that rivalry alive.

I had missed the reference in the "Schedule" section that NCAC was going to full round-robin in 2012, ending the NCAC-UAA schedule.

What is stated there seems at odds with the 2012 schedule that CMU has on its site.

http://www.cmu.edu/athletics/sports/football/schedules/2012.html

Would CMU be the OOC game for four NCAC teams?  Apparently the NCAC games aren't going to be limited to weeks 3-11, as it is for OAC.

If that is the case, hopefully the fight for the fish will remain on the schedule.

I think that those non-conference games will be spread throughout the season, since several NCAC schools might be interested in playing the same teams.  However, I would think that Wabash and DePauw would find a stronger (and closer) opponent than Carnegie Mellon.

Especially with all the whining we've endured from the Wallies about the UAA.

Please.  We've discussed pros and cons of that arrangement from the jump.  Bottom line...it helped the UAA far more than it helped the NCAC and some NCAC teams got more out of it than others in the league.  I don't think anybody is whining about the UAA...I personally have a lot of respect for UAA schools (and I'm sure the other Wallies do as well) as they are all fine institutions.

More interesting at this point is where do the four UAA schools go for games now?  The NCAC schools only have one non league game apiece starting in 2012 and that certainly won't be enough to fill out UAA schedules.

An affiliation agreement with the SCAC would be beneficial for both conferences, as they both will need access to the automatic bid.

Consolidation definitely makes good football sense.  That'd be an expensive travel league, and the UAA schools would have to loosen up on some things that they generally want out of their members.

They might not have to in order to accept football affiliate members, and I'm pretty sure both sets of schools are familiar with traveling. :)
