Car is packed. 10 hours to Granville. Football season is here! My son's big adventure is about to begin. I can tell he's pretty nervous about what's in store for him. I believe he will do just fine. His mother is preparing to cry and I'm sure four years from now today will seem like it was only two weeks ago. I can't believe that the kid who was born two months early and so small that I could hold him in the palm of my hand is a 6' 3" 275lb. man. Talk about time flying. Here's to four years of spirited competition in the NCAC. Hopefully I'll get the chance to meet some of the denizens of this board at a game or two. I look forward to it.

Best wishes to your son for a great educational experience as well as a healthy and successful athletic career.  My son will be a senior in college this fall and it does seem like just yesterday that we were dropping him off.  My daughter begins college this fall, I really wish father time would slow the clock down, just a bit.

Disagree on Page.......glad he is gone.  They need some progressive thinking in that role.  No reason why the facilities suck, etc.  I struggle with his ability to raise money.  I hope I am wrong.  Don't know if this was in the release, but Lacrosse was added as a full-time men and women's sport.  I think that starts in '12.  Not posting anymore, but wanted to ring in on this.  I will watch DPU from afar this year.  Would like to go to more than one home game, but there are only three.  Nice job on that front Page.  Old Gold is a soccer game.  Ha.  Will be there for Monon.
DePauw will be OK this year.  I like Schweir at QB.  He will provide a dimension that DePauw hasn't had in the 4 yrs Thomas played - mobility.  I guess they are spreading it out and running the spread.  Backfield will be fine.  I understand they got a transfer from a D1 program who is legit.  Receiving corps will be decent, but a drop off from years past.  Line returns 2 starters.  Lewis Brown is a stud and beats people up.  But, there is zero depth in this area.  I hope they bring in some freshman who can play.  Defense will be interesting.  LBs may be very good.  They have some kids who can play.  DBs will be OK.  They return 2 kids that can play.  Others have experience, but not sure they are ready to be starters.  D-line, like the O-Line has no depth.  Really, really like Fultz.  After that, not much to talk about.  Schedule works in their favor except for lack of home games.  Good luck Tigers.

Good luck sir. It's good he's nervous, though -- a lot of the kids who come in thinking, well, it's just Division III so I'll own the place end up being knocked on their ass right out of the gate. :)

As far as pre-season rah-rah posts go, your previous one was depressing as hell. I haven't felt such complicated sympathy since D'Angelo was murdered and left hanging from a Bal'more prison door-knob.

How's that for clarity?

Brilliant!  +1...+100 if I could. Where's Wallace?!

It is 47-0. Should have been 54 - 0 (if the refs hadn't imposed their "mercy rule" and called back a break away TD ... and yes Fibb ... 54 because - to build from Ohio State's Woody H - you can go for 2).

So there is room for improvement on the 47 side of the ball and I expect the dandies will continue to hold up their end by not getting off the shneid.

Fine motor skill issues.  Intended to say the score should have been 54 but could have been 55 ... a la Woody H. etc.

Yeah, but the very next year Bo showed Woody why going for two at that point of the game might not be wise! 8-)

You seem to have completely forgotten the 2008 game, where your "top ranked" fellers didn't show up.  At all.  So we've had two blowouts -- one each way -- in the past three games.  As much fun as '08 was for us (and the bewildered looks on your sidelines), and '10 clearly was for you, I'd prefer a more classic, closely contested game... let's hope both teams show up this fall.

Something tells me that "keep it close against DePauw" isn't going to be on the list of team goals this fall.  I have no inside info on this...just speculating.
