My sense is that Wabash will have its hands full with Chicago this year and Wash U has been a tradition on and then off the Wabash schedule going back generations.

I think the problem, as I see it from the Wabash perspective, is that Wabash has always ended up with Chicago and Wash U ... and not saying anything against either school, it would be fun to have some of the others in the mix ... maybe with the Dannies in, there will be other schools from your conference scheduled for both Wabash and DePauw.

Pat,

Because DePauw is a non-conference game and everyone else plays week 1.

Ryan - I loved the calendar as well but why wouldn't it have been a final?  The best is where it shows 47-0 FINAL.  Still sweet though.

Wabco - has Chicago ever given us a lot of trouble?

ETP-

I've said from the second this agreement was announced in 2007 that my main problem is that Wabash and Wittenberg can get better games than the UAA can offer.  Washington isn't even a regional game for Wabash and Wittenberg which is not ideal.  There are definitely some very positive games that can be made between teams in our leagues...what I don't understand is why those teams that desire those games can't just schedule games with those UAA teams and not bring less willing participants along for the ride.  That's my gripe...why does it have to be everybody?  The NCAC can't raise its rep by beating the UAA champion either in the regular season or in the postseason (which Wabash has done three times since '07, btw).  The best teams in this league need games against good teams from stronger leagues...games against CCIW teams, games against OAC teams, games against other strong regional teams like Franklin or Trine.  It would be nice to have more opportunity for those kinds of games in the regular season instead of getting just one chance at it in the playoffs every year.

This is also probably a good time to note that this opinion is my own and not necessarily that of the powers that be at Wabash.  I believe that those who make decisions at Wabash have liked the agreement and there are some positives that have been taken from it (namely, getting a gameday presence in Chicagoland...we filled up Stagg Field with a ton of scarlet in '09 and it's gonna happen again in a few weeks).

I don't mind playing a game with WUStl or Chicago.  I haven't liked both in the same season, particularly with DPU being a locked in non-league game, which has left Wabash with zero elective games in the last four years.  I'd like to have had even just one elective game where Wabash can get a higher profile game.

Huh, good point. Hadn't noticed that :)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Not since Amos Alonzo Stagg was coaching the Maroons.

Pat,

Because DePauw is a non-conference game and everyone else plays week 1.

That doesn't exclude them from doing it. Wabash could play a non-conference game Week 1, another non-conference game Week 11, and have a bye week somewhere in the other nine weeks just fine.

Ithaca manages it -- they play a non-conference rivalry game in Week 11 against Cortland State and open Saturday with Brockport, another non-conference game.

BB16, LGHistorian and others -

Did Wabash have a bye week when they had a 9 game schedule? I think I remember one bye week in the 1984-86 era with a 9-game.

At any rate, I do think not playing on opening week started even in the old ICC days, perhaps? Maybe?

Can our loyal SID provide us with info on game DATES at some point. You know, when nothing else is going on. Hah.

OK ... here is one for you.  Not only do the Dannies only have 3 home games (of which Wabash is one), but now the Dannie-ette field hockey team has now taken over the football practice field; leaving the Dannie footballers to practice on their grass game field as their only practice and now game field facility.  It will be the Monon Bell Mud Bowl by November 13, 2011.

I believe it is Saturday at noon at Wheaton.  Should bve a good scrimmage, as both teams will be good ones and just trying to test ideas and personnel against sound competition.  If you are going, give us your report after.  Thanks.

Game week!  The biggies on the schedule this week are tomorrow night's B-W/Wooster game and the Capital/Witt game on Saturday night.  These are big games for the league.  These are potential profile raisers for the NCAC.  Hopefully we'll see some positive results from those games.

Also a little interested in Denison/OWU.  That opener for OWU last year was an absolute disaster...it'll be interesting to see how much OWU has grown up and acclimated to a more balanced (or even pass-reliant) offense.

Agree with all Wally.....  I will also have my eye on the Dannies vs. Rose to see how they respond after graduation and getting.... ummm...... (trying to be PC) defeated handily in their final regular season game last year.  ;)

What was that score again... hmmm.... it's been so long..... oh... here it is  :)

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Unfortunately, I won't be watching the games Saturday night...I'll be out for the Ducks game and a couple of long pours.  Rumor has it that DePauw has restocked with D-I throwaways transfers.  Anywhere from 2 to 24...it's hard to say because they are treating their roster like it's the set of nuclear codes.  Need all that secrecy to sneak up on RHIT, do ya?  After week 1, the cat's out of the bag...may as well play nice and do a preview interview or two.

Latest on the NCAC schedule: 2013 first year of round robin.  2012 still not available.

2012 now visible.  CMU and CWRU sites were correct.  Wooster's was not.
Unless CWRU and Wooster have one-game contracts for week 1 2012, the Fight for the Fishies will be on hiatus starting 2013.

Last year for the UAA and one last go around with our good friends at Wash U., who we have played in many sports for a long time. I remember my freshman year broadcasting a football game played on the turf at Lindenwood because the Wash U. stadium was unavailable. Also, we played them home and home in hoops when I was in college, and I recall a fight between a badass for Wash U. named Fred Amos and Houston Mills, a scrappy point guard who was even more of a badass because he was a Marine. So for me, I'm glad we play them again in 2012 because I've always respected them.

Now, let's find a good game for all NCAC folks as that one elective game in 2012 and beyond. The definition of 'good' will be different for Hiram and Wittenberg, but I think they both can satisfy. No winless teams going forward, gents.
