Just to throw my opinion in. I know Chase pretty well and I know he is working hard. I also know all of the linemen extreamly well and talk with them as much as possible and I can assure you every one of them including the back ups took the blame for the sacks. they had a bit of a let down once they got up. I havent seen so many down looks after a win then i did talking to them on Saturday. Chase is a hell of a quarterback, and if it wasnt for his play making abbility I can think of atleast 3-4 other plays that would have been a sack but instead they turned into positives. Just watch for a much improved team this Saturday. And to reiterate BashDad84....watch this train take off. The men know what is at stake here.

Er, Harbaugh, that guy-- he took 31 sacks his senior year which HAS to be a record. Throw the ball away, dude.

Yeah,  that guy #3... he had to be the slowest QB I have ever seen.... although I did see an 11 yard run (for his life) once.....  ;)  ???   :o

http://youtu.be/oeMwHZrUbVA

He was so slow, In 2004, he ran a QB sneak one time that started in the 2nd Qtr. and ended in the 3rd Qtr. with a 1 yard loss.

:o  :P ;)

I think I managed to throw a pick during that play, too.

I thought we'd moved past that season.

I remember Knott making "the throw" in the Witt playoff game to Bronaugh, in to the wind.
Hands down, THE best throw I've ever seen in person.  The playoffs are fun.

I remember Knott launching the tipped TD vs. DePauw with 2.6 seconds left in the game...
This season marks the 10th anniversary of that play.  Can you believe that?

I remember Harbaugh absolutely shredding Albion in the 1st round of the playoffs...
That's just what he did in 2005.  Ridiculous season.  I think my favorite was the game vs. Denison where #3 threw a perfecto, minus Eric Summers tripping over a yard line and just missing a bomb.  I think the final stat line there was 19-20, 317, 3 TDs...and 5 sacks

Quote from: BashBacker#16 on September 20, 2011, 10:19:24 AM
I remember Huff throwing for about a million yards against Franklin before he BLEW his ankle on the hands team.
Just a ridiculous game.  Unfortunately we are left to wonder what kind of stats Huff could have piled up in 2007...I think it was going to be the biggest stats season ever for a qb at Wabash.

Ah, the memories.  Good stuff, 16.   :)

BB16, right there with you.  Some people seem to think that ANY criticism is running the team down.  It's not.  We are simply pointing out some deficiencies we notice.  I am sure ER has as well.  Hopefully, we will see improvement in those areas and we will win them all this year!!

WAF!!

I think this stemmed from a comment that Belton should move to RB, and move to RB stat.

Second that.

A blind man could've followed that play. You could hear everything: the ball cutting wind, the thunder-clap as it hit Bronaugh, and the roar from the crowd following. Stunning.

I never said move Belton, I just want the continuous improvement.  BTW, anyone notice he is two inches shorter on the roster this year?  Stats!! :P

I really hope we just explode and not just make the playoffs but make some inroads into them!!

Now back to our regularly scheduled 2011 Football Season....already in progress  ;)

Week #4 -

Case @ The Big Red -    It will be interesting to see where this Case Program is at this point.  This week could tell us.   Big Red rolled early and rolled late last week vs. Hiram... the middle concerned me a bit.

CMU @ Kenyon -  Tartans will most likely get their 2nd win of the season,  but by how much?  This may be the Lord's last chance at victory in 2011... albeit a slim chance.   (Wabash, Gheny, Witt up next for Kenyon)

Gheny @ Witt -  These Tigers probably didn't enjoy their film session this week...  Does Gheny continue to surprise after their Week 1 loss to an improved Bethany squad or does Witt assert itself and run the score?  P.S. I would personally like to thank the Gators for showing Depauw a nice time on Saturday.

Hiram @ Oberlin -   How hurt was/is Mandel on Saturday?... with him healthy,  this one could get ugly.   The Yeoman's offense can put up some points in 2011 if all the pieces are on the field, and their defense is plenty against Hiram.

Wabash @ Chicago -  Wabash's offense plays solid for 4 qtrs... subs get some play in the 4th in this one.  Wabash "D" with one more week of experience under its belt, begins to dominate.

OWU @ Wooster -  With Barnes down,  Wooster struggles against this OWU defense.   With Witt & Wabash back to back in  the prior weeks, this is the Bishops shot to get a "W" against ummm...a.... "W"

Case and Denison are litmi tests. This is a big one for each program. And I don't think Denison will be happy just to keep it close. It's time for Denison to start to win those games.

Seeing CMU against Catholic, they should win. They have talent but lost to the fluke (or by the Divine Providence of the Holy Father, since it is THE Catholic U in the USA, accept no substitutes.)

Gheny is going to get the wrath of the Tigers this week. But I echo Bashbro's statement about the welcoming that the Gators gave to DPU. Again, that's a long slog from Meadville after a loss in any sport.

I think Oberlin can roll up numbers on Hiram, but still, Hiram is improving.

Still think the Maroons can keep it within 17. However, I bet it will feel like a 'Bash home game.

Wooster's injuries definitely put this in the 'toss up'. OWU's defense may make the difference.

Well, call me crazy, but I don't think the Barnes injury will affect Wooster too much. Considering how poorly the offense has looked the last 3 weeks, and how Frongillo has looked in limited action, they might actually be able to move the ball a little better. Now, they will miss how slippery Barnes is in the pocket, but Frongillo has good quickness as well and might be a better passer.

That being said, I'm not disagreeing that the OWU game is a "toss up." Wooster is thin and young, and OWU might be able to steal one.

Any other Wooster posters left? Anybody that saw the Bash game have a more optimistic outlook for the Scots?

I did make the trip out to Papp for the Wabash/Wooster game and came back here on record as saying that I didn't think the Scots would lose again until week 11, and then who knows what might happen there.  The Barnes Situation™ changes that outlook.  They still may rip off six more in a row here, but I'm not nearly as confident about it now.  This week's game vs. OWU is interesting.  OWU seems to be settling in to their new offense and they have a typically sound OWU defense.  I do think Wooster has an edge here because the Bishops are very one dimensional and Wooster's good defensive line ought to be able be pretty aggressive on the pass rush.  Wooster has a little more balance, and I think the Scot ground game will eventually win out here.  Looking ahead, I think CWRU now goes into a favorite position vs. the Scots in the Baird Bros. game and they'll be dogs when they go out to  St. Louis as well.

Long term, I think the Barnes injury is a big deal.  I think he's really, really good.  IMO, Wooster lacks really serious outside threats and I think Barnes was really hurt with Cam Daniels being out to start this season.  The Scots may find some more vertical success when Daniels comes back, but I don't see how they can replace the things Barnes does, particularly his ability to avoid a rush and make big plays out of nothing.  I hope he comes back 100% for next season.

IMO you are vastly underestimating Chicago's ability to score.

Wabash has kept Chicago to 7, 10, and 14 points in the three games since this series started in 2008.  The LGs have done a good job against the Maroons.  Chicago is skilled and presents some challenges for sure, but Wabash has been well prepared for them.

I am not questioning Wabash's overall team.  What I think will happen is that Wabash will win but Chicago will increase their historical level of scoring against Wabash and the game will not be a blowout (i.e allowing significant/any time for the backups).
