Meanwhile, on the mountain, this has been hard to watch.  DePauw got to the goaline, but couldn't get it in.  Tried to throw on 4th down and didn't get it.  23-7 with Sewanee deep in their own end with about 12 minutes go.

#10 Kean loses to Brockport State
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

And note that Brockport was 0-5 entering the game!  How a team can give #7 Wesley their only loss (as well as a couple of other impressive victories), then lose to Brockport is a mystery.

Wabash Hokie

DePauw still down 23 - 7.  No offensive TDs for DPU today - kickoff return for TD only score.

Wabash Hokie

DPU turns ball over on downs with couple of minutes to go. Sewanee completes pass on 3rd down to DPU 5 and scores on the next play.  With about 1:00 left, Sewanee 30 - DePauw 7 and the beat down goes on.

Can DePauw beat OWU next week?  I honestly don't know.  The Tigers are not good.   They aren't even decent.

I said that 3 weeks ago.

Still haven't seen any stats, but I don't think the passing numbers are going to be pretty.  They actually ran the ball fairly well (by their standards) from what I saw today.  Six or seven times I saw them move it on the ground in decent sized chunks.

Defense did struggle today, but they played a team that runs a very sound wing-t.  That's hard for almost everybody to stop.  Still think they're OK if you line up and try to play them straight.  It's a little frustrating because they had two weeks to get ready for it, though.  Again, I'll need to look at the box, but you give more points than you should when you're offense can't get out of their own end and your punter kicks it under 40 yards.

I think the DPU/OWU game will be a close game - maybe not a good game but a close game.  DPU's offense is very inconsistent at QB and overall execution.  This week the defense again spent a lot of time on the field.  I would not be surprised to see OWU win this one.  It would be tough to set a line on this game.

Three weeks ago I still didn't believe that DePauw could have possibly gone this far into the tank after the last few seasons.  Today is the first time since 1999 that Sewanee has beaten DePauw.

Based on the Sewanee site, it is only the 2nd time they have ever beaten DPU. The game announcers were stating that this was their biggest win in years.  I don't know if they were referring to margin of victory or simply beating the crap out of a team used to walk all over them.

I agree Wally.   There must have been a serious issue with recruiting over the past few years......  to drop off that far is very strange.... the last time Depauw started a season 1-4  was 1999  (they went 1-5)...side not.... they beat Wabash at Blackstock 21-7 that year.

Wabash better not bring the game they played today to Blackstock this year.  I see Depauw being 2-6 or 3-5  coming into the Bell Game.   OWU is a toss up.... they will win at Austin.... they will lose to Albion.

Same year. 1999.  Started 1-5 & finished 5-5.  If you're interested in 1-6, it's 1994.  Went 2-8.  That's in the middle of a 5 game streak of not possessing the Monon Bell.

They were 0-4 in 2000 and then won out.  Those first couple of years of SCAC play, DPU's schedule was very front loaded.

My bad.  You're right.  Forgot that because it actually turned out to be a pretty good team that year.
