You Burke's uncle or something?

Quote"We made mistakes at quarterback. We missed blocks on the O-line and we dropped balls at receiver," Coach Erik Raeburn said. "And, and we missed some protections at running back. It wasn't like there was just one guy out there who was going through the motions or didn't have the intensity or effort."

Emphasis supplied.

Burke don't play defense, he ain't on the line, he don't play running back and he don't catch the balls he throws. Our own coach thinks this was a craptastic game all around and once again, despite the 5 minute, 12 play 70 yard game clinching scoring drive at the end the calls for Belton's head come again.

Oh well I guess:

Just think if Wabash was as bad as DPU.... :o

Wait, what am I saying. If our RECORD was as bad as DPU. We could lose to the Lords by 40 and not be THAT bad.

at the end of the day, that is where the only analysis that matters take place..... The Coaching staff.   Whomever he believes gives us the best chance to beat Witt.....  There is no way in the world we can question it, well we can question it, but we then fall into the "grass is always greener" mode.    The reality is,  I, as in many others, are worried about getting past Witt.  (period)

May not be the best time for it, but to take the edge off.... here it is:

a little extreme because we won, but I feel better now.  ;)

Doesn't help that Stanford Dismantled my Cougars!....Mora's rant actually fits that

But using Tyler Burke at quarterback immediately reduces Wittenberg to a cakewalk?   They both played in that game last year.  Neither were great, but Belton had the better game there as well.

What was most disappointing was the defense. Oberlin's a good team when healthy, but the (now former) #1 scoring defense in D-3 shouldn't give up two 80-yard drives to them.

I think Wabash will score against Witt. Now I wonder if it'll be a shootout, and that's not what we want.

But first things first, we gotta take care of the Big Red.

Wally.... Did you even read my post?  Or just take that one line and extrapolate it with motivation.....STOP ..read the post.....let me speak clearly for you:  IF CHASE IS THE BEST WE HAVE..... Then I , as in many... hope he and the rest of the team can find a way to win....  playing like THEY (the team) did today......  WILL NOT... get it done.

Nor does using Burke at QB change today's game. I'm not sure what anyone who watched listened to today's game saw heard that makes this close shave #13's fault. Does anyone really believe that Oberlin was the best offense we've faced this year? No disrespect to them. Oberlin gets a lot of respect from me for not folding like a taco when they were down 30-3. But if our defense plays their game this game is never close. Like smed said: there's no excuse for giving up two 80 yard drives. And that's not going to be different if we had Andrew Luck in at QB.

Wabash's offense is in the top 3 in every single team offense category in the league.  Every single one.  The offense is good.  Quite good actually.  They weren't great today, but that happens.  But I would just caution you, and the many others, not to try and project today's narrative onto a game that hasn't even been played yet.  The context of every single game is different.  I don't know why Wabash didn't play well today.  Maybe it was the long trip.  Maybe it was the wind.  Maybe they didn't respect their opponent.  Maybe they weren't well prepared.  Who knows.  I do know that it isn't fair to say "well if this were Witt, then..." because it wasn't Witt.  Let's save the Witt game reaction for when there's actually a Witt game.

And note that Brockport was 0-5 entering the game!  How a team can give #7 Wesley their only loss (as well as a couple of other impressive victories), then lose to Brockport is a mystery.

It's less of a mystery if you take the Buff State, TCNJ and Western Conn score margins seriously and don't just chalk them up to "well, a win is a win."

True.  But while I suspected they were overrated, they DID beat both Cortland and (4-2) TCNJ.  Beating Wesley but losing to Brockport is still 'one of those things' - a mystery. ;)

Nope  not relater to Burke, only met him once.  I just believe in a game where things are just a little beyond contained that he does go to pieces.  I believe when given joices, he makes bad decisions when pushed with a gam on the line.  If Wabash is #3 in all O performance catagories ... then you missed reading the QB area.  And that last Wabash drive was the coaches calling Van Hunt and blocking with one Belton run  ... designed run ... where he was told exactly what to do and without options to run around in the backfield or screw up looking for/passing to secondary receivers.  No mastheads at the bottom of your post or "Wally sermons" will cover up that Belton was putrid yesterday and this seems to happen with some frequency.  We have two weeks to setttle down at the QB spot and/or design around defficiencies so that there is team leadership rather than adding to the chaos of the moment.  The D played poorly today ... were they just a little bit infected by the chaos?  I think so.  The good part is they will be compartmentalized now by our D coach to look to themselves completely along with special teams as more than critical to victory rather than just critical to victory.

So there ... one man's opinion .... with RED through and through ...hammer away.

Bash-Dad #84

Not going to hammer here, but Coach Raeburn said it as well as it can be said. OL missed blocks, Backs missed protections and Receivers dropped balls. I was at the game and I never saw Belton miss a single tackle.

This group of young men are as tough and resilient as any team out there and there will be no murmuring coming from their locker room. They will get together, watch film and fix the mistakes that were made Saturday. That you can be sure of. Leaders will step up and lead, followers will follow and Wabash will continue to win...

Lost in all of this is the effort that Oberlin's football team put in yesterday. They had players on the sidelines on crutches and in wheel chairs and those kids never quit. I commend them for their effort.
Now, back to the practice field. Wabash Always Fights! 8-)

I should have anticipated this response a little better. It's sensitive terrain. From where I sit, being disappointed in CB's play isn't the same as calling for his removal. Venting frustrations about yesterday's team performance should not exclude the guy behind center. He's got to be better.

To be clear, I think pulling him would be a disaster. Pre-season is when those decisions should be made, period. At this point, QB just isn't the be-all-end-all strength of this team. That's the identity. It's just one we're not used to.
