As BashDad said, if you don't want Barnes, Wabash will take him gladly. And win.

Do you recall the discussion on here earlier about Belton v Burke?  While most supported Belton, no one suggested that Wabash didn't want either of them.

And yes, I know BashDad was writing tongue in cheek.

I would have liked to have seen at least one kick off to Chamblee, but oh well . . .

If I had to find one thing about the Gators game plan to question,  it was this.   They basically completely gave up the field position battle.   I don't know exactly what Wabash's starting field position was,  but it had to be around their own 40 or 45.

Wes is dangerous, that I totally agree with,  but giving Chase & Co the ball around the 50 in the 4th qtr, proved to be just as deadly.

Great fight it out win yesterday and as other have mentioned, probably the perfect tune-up for Witt week.

WAF!
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Pretty cool note I received from the home office in Greencastle... The QB that came in for DePauw yesterday after Seaman got hurt is Will King.  He's a senior from Stratford High School in Houston.  He was the backup for some kid named Luck.

Wabash drops to 10th after its less than impressive win (but a win still) against Allegheny.

Voters flopped Wabash and Cal Lutheran (for the most part) as the Kingsmen just roll through the SCIAC. Cal Luthern's only loss was to Linfield, by 10, at Linfield, on opening week.

I think that's fine.....   It's WITT week and a win on Saturday is all any of us should care about.   Here's to a great week of practice & focus on taking our NCAC crown back on Saturday!    P.S. Hope HH makes it back.

Yep, his first varsity snaps. I wonder  why he went in insteead of Guenther?

If you're on QB #4 you just hope they can receive the snap without falling down.  ;)

You're right. By any measurement the only game that matters is this week. Well, except for next week!

I stand corrected...he actually played briefly against OWU last week.  ;)

Anyone know the status of Wabash centers #1 and 2?

Nike,

I gave very specific reasons why I think Frongillo is better than Barnes. I'd be interested in hearing your specific reasons why Barnes is better. And if you aren't sure, then I'm not sure why you speak with such certainty when I and FightingScot (a former Wooster player) say we think Frongillo is better.

Sorry it has taken so long to answer, although my response is not that much different than what others have posted.  I appreciate what Barnes did his freshman year and in the three games he played this year.  His whole body of work. This isn't the pros.  Your specific reasons were your opinion(s).  And I respect them.  I just disagree with them.  I feel that Barnes gave Wooster the best chance to win at QB.  His numbers last year were all near the top of the conference.  And this year I felt he would have continued to get better.  As mentioned earlier, he was judged to be the best freshman in the league last year by the NCAC coaches.
What caught my eye was the suggestion that after a couple games Frongillo, obviously a good player, was the better option to lead the Scots to victory.  That the decision making was sharper and that maybe Barnes should be moved to receiver.  I did not look up the exact post where this was alluded to.  I heard that talk when I played and when my sons played.  The ones that played in college played the positions they were recruited to play.  I am not at all saying players should not or cannot change positions in college.  Each situation is unique.  But for our family, that was what we chose.
As I said before, hope the Scots can win out. I wish nothing but the best for the starting QB, whoever he is.  I am sure Barnes and Frongillo will battle it out next season.  And Schmitz will start who he feels gives Wooster the best chance to win, again.
Have not heard anywhere that Barnes will be back this year, so trust Frongillo plays well and stays healthy.

nike: I saw Frongillo play against OWU....I liked his mechanics & the way he
led the COW offense. Good footwork from what I recall. An east-coast product.

nike

Aueagle,
Wooster had 10 points against OWU and threw for 98 yards.
Not saying Frongillo isn't a legitimate D3 quarterback.  What I am saying is that footwork and mechanics notwithstanding, I feel that had Barnes stayed healthy, he would have given the Scots the best opportunity to win the most games this season at QB.  Witt will be a much tougher test for the whole Scot's team than Hiram or Kenyon.
Next year's QB situation will take care of itself.  If Frongillo wins the job outright, then I trust Barnes will handle it much the same way Frongillo has appeared to have handled it this year, with class.  A backup is only play away from being the starter, anyway.  But obviously, there were coaching reasons why Barnes started last year as a freshman and this year until he got hurt.
A couple years ago Wabash lost their starter and the backup played very well.  Wabash brought the starter back for the playoffs as I recall and he was just too rusty and Wabash got hammered.  QB issues are sometimes complicated.
By the way, have watched over the years as OWU replaced a good QB that was injured with the backup and when the original starter came back, the backup kept the starting job.  Do not think those were very good seasons for the Bishops.  I remember Hymes playing receiver at some point during his last year at OWU, after becoming the starter as a sophomore or junior when Sir Louis got hurt.  Hymes got hurt and never made it back as staring QB, as I remember.

aueagle

Good problem to have  in Wooster. A guy that throws for the 2nd most yards in school history,
and gets All-NCAC Mention (2010), plus a guy that can come in and perform like a starter. No doubt,
if Barnes had stayed healthy what might have happened. Hindsight is 20/20.
At OWU, never could figure out the Hymes thing. Some say he was upset at the coach and left...some say he
just wanted to finish school and move on.....but, Fisher was a medical from what I heard. And "Sir Louie",
was fun to watch...all good QB's that could run (and had to because of the "O")....I think all three fell to the ,
"Let's go with the younger guy mentality". With Espo, it's just pass. But, the Bishops did rush for over 100 yards
against the Lords (first time all year-but it was against Kenyon, please)...Still miss The Lass
