Maybe he looks exactly like the Bishop?

/it is pretty lame not to have a headshot available...

Lack of Espo Photo could be because...OWU doesn't have a Sports Information guy? At least nobody
is listed as being one. The football staff is busy with "momentum"......or, We don't need no stinkin headshots.....

firstdown

Comparing Wittenberg and Wabash - tale of the tapes:
Home Field - advantage Wabash (Wabash is at home and Witt has to travel)
Intangibles - Witt advantage of a bye week.
Offense - pretty even (Wabash has an advantage in rushing yards, Wittenberg in passing yards)
Defense - advantage Wabash (2,148 yds by opponents to 2,630 yards by opponents).  Scoring (76 points given up to 148 points given up).
Special teams - advantage Wabash (#84).

With the AQ and Conference Championship on the line, all of the above is interesting, but it comes down to who has more points on the board at the end of the game.  Saturday should be good game to watch.

What does a bye week have to do with 'intangibles'? Sprained ankles and extra practice time seem pretty tangible to me.

I boldly predict the losing team will suffer the most turnovers.

This game is too close to call:
- Wabash may have a better D but we haven't played as stout the last couple of weeks.
- Witt O is pretty scary with a stud QB and 2 freak big play receivers (McKee and Cooper).  Can Bash get pressure on Zoeller - QB?
- Witt D has not been nearly as strong as recent years - have been gauged by the run a couple of games and have given up more points and yards than us
- Bash leads the conference in rushing, can they run vs Witt D?  We need to keep their O off the field due to big play WR's!  We also need to put our QB in a good position where they are putting more in the box to stop the run - then we can hurt them with Horn, Chamblee, & our other WR's.
- Bash Special Teams may have a slight advantage with Chamblee leading the nation in returns - will be interesting to see if they kick away and sacrifice field position in doing do.  Our kicking game is just ok (missed a 25 yarder last week) and Witt's has not missed a FG all season (11 for 11).  That scares me.
- The battle in the trenches on both sides will be HUGE!  I don't know who wins that honestly...
- Home field advantage should help us and the crowd/environment should be electric.

One are of concern for me are penalties. In a game like this, extra chunks of yards given to Wittenberg are crucial.

Wabash is ranked last in the league (counting conference games only) in number of penalties (34) and penalty yards (304).

Wittenberg is ranked last overall in penalties and yards, but in conference games only they are 6th in number (28) and 4th in yards (227).

As BB16 said, it's about the game in the trenches. If Wabash can lay some hits on Zoeller and can create holes for Belton, Hunt, Holmes and Rowe to run through, they'll come out ahead. But if they can't get to Zoeller, it may be a shootout, and if they can't run, they'll be in trouble.

Any word on the O-line injuries for Wabash?

I don't have any info on "O" line injuries that I can share, but I can tell you that the young men are focused and ready to play the game. I am confident that we will all see this team really come together on Saturday. I can't wait for Saturday to come. You better get your popcorn ready!

How about this guy? He's still on the school's contacts page.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

I agree with you guys...It is terrible to have a player be named to PLayer of the Week and not have a photo of him on there. That speaks volume of the program. The kid played very well last weekend against a HORRIBLE Kenyon squad and can't even get a photo. What a shame on OWU's part.

NCAC4Life

I saw a picture when I looked at the site.

All it took was a bunch of people, most of them non-OWU guys, to say, "Hey! Give your player some love!"

Although I wouldn't put it past the NCAC to have misplaced the photo either.

Hey OWU---Your QB is Player of the Week----at least get a picture of him to the North Coast website to be posted!!!!!!!!!!

Never quoted myself before.
At 12:16:56: yesterday there was no picture.  Today there is.  Power to the people!
On a different note, I am assuming there will tickets available at the gate at the Wabash-Witt game, correct?
Where is a good breakfast spot in Crawfordsville? We will be wearing Scot's gear.

Maybe the NCAC guy who handles their website is on his "Bye" week, before the Wabash game, in hopes that he won't have to FTP Up the words.  "Wabash 2011 NCAC Champions"

Nike:

The Scarlet Inn ought to be open on campus, by the bookstore in the Sparks Center.  There are several local eateries in the downtown area.  Hope this helps somewhat...
Been rooting for Dear Old Wabash since 1976...

Thanks!
Never been to Crawfordsville early before the game and never rooted for them before in their stadium.  Was always for Wooster.  Seen them play Witt at Witt before, so this will be "sick", as my youngest says.  At least he used to say it.
