Equally interesting is that Wittenberg has scored just 14 TDs on 28 trips to the red zone.  That's 50% TD rate in the red zone, which is ok but not great.  By contrast Wabash is 21-30 scoring TDs in the red zone (70%).

Those percentages many times signal the lack of redzone running game.   Don't know what happened to it, did they lose some of their O-line from last year?   Injuries?   This conversation would be much more interesting with some Witt posters.

Is it weird that I'm more concerned about Witt scoring touchdowns from the 40 than I am about Witt scoring touchdowns inside the 20?

True Dat.....  I was watching a Witt game this year, where they converted a 4th and Goal from the 33 for a touchdown.  On that particular play, Zoeller had 6 months to throw. Cooper and Mckee are good and will get open if given that kind of time.

I do think the key is putting pressure on Zoeller, as has been noted. If he doesn't have time to release the ball those receivers can't hit on those long passes.

I agree with Smed, CJ needs to introduce himself to Zoeller once or twice, so that he gets happy feet. If he can't get them the ball, they can't catch it.  8-)

This Wabash D is a whole other animal compared to what Zoeller has seen. I'm sure Mr. Hammer will take his comments under consideration and dial up the pressure.

Been a bad half or two for the Wabash D in last few weeks. They probably don't get to take one off the rest of the way.

Have watched some of Witt's games this year and to answer comments about their red zone abilities--their receivers are very good, but do not think their routes are as pricise as Chamblee and Horn.  Maybe I shouldn't say that, but should say I think they need just a bit more time to get open. They are tall, rangy guys.  But again, they are very good.  And so far their QB has had the  time for them to do just that, get open.  Wabash secondary has work cut out.
Think Wabash offense does just fine. If the defense can put pressure on Witt's QB throughout the game and get him to speed up his game, Wabash wins.

I thought I'd post links to my video highlight packages from the last two Witt-Wabash games because I don't think you can find them on our site anymore. The video quality isn't great for the 2009 video, but most of the big plays are in there. I only wish I had a camera at that 2002 OT game.

Djabs -   Thanks for posting,  even though Wabash cam out on the wrong side of the scoreboard in these contests,  it still really shows the intensity of what Wabash & Witt has grown into.  The game has truly has delivered over the past 10 years.    Look forward to a hard fought game on Saturday.

Two great programs going toe-to-toe......

I have been watching #84 run around and do special things on a football field since he was 8 years old. I can't remember the last time I had butterflies in my stomach before one of his games. I have them now.

Let's go get them Little Giants.......Wabash Always Fights!   8-)

Bash-Dad#84,

I have butterflies reading your post!  How is Wes a 5th year senior and I have never met you??  Let's make that happen the next couple of weeks.

Djabs - not knowing what we would see that day, I am soooooooo thankful we traveled to Springfield for the 2002 game.  We were on the Bash sideline and I still remember it like it was yesterday.  I remember Jake Knott looking up at us and saying "do you realize what we are about to do?"  Wow in retrospect.

How jacked are the players today from both sides?  Pretty awesome that our guys get to play in 2 of these games no matter what each season - the Witt game and the Bell game.

Wabash Always Fights!!!  Go Bash, beat Witt!!!

BD84 & BB16:

From someone who has been following 'Bash since the Navarro Days, I would have to agree with you that the way we are ending the season now is very exciting.  It gives a playoff atmosphere to the end of the season no matter what happens down the road.  Football at Wabash is obviously VERY important.  What other school has 150 or so great kids show up at pre-season camp out of a total enrollment of 850?  Look at our attendance figures.  This is one of the great stories in all of football!  I am glad to share the board with guys like you (and the others!!) as well as the other dedicated posters from the NCAC schools.  Keep firing away!!
