And speaking of our wonderful league...

Oberlin may be the 'best' 2-7 team in D3FB. Oh, for 20 or 30 more players...

OWU, despite all of their issues, are on pace for a 3-3 NCAC record.

It's a shame for 'Gheny that their QB is a senior. If he had just one more year, they could leap into the upper echelon next year.

Can Wooster beat Witt? I'd say it's more likely now than it was a month ago.

OWU didn't have to play the Gators this year......which helped....
but, the program has to beat teams other than Hiram, Oberlin, Kenyon...
and we did beat Denison by 3 this season....Lost every non-conference...that's momentum.
OWU had an ex-player who has coached at the college level on the webcast..
he was asked what he thought of the Bishop offense so far (1st half)...
"Well...ya gotta be able to run the ball in your offense"

Geezer Citizen

Just got back to Indy after game and chow in C'ville. Glad to see  the NCAC gridiron trophy back in C'ville. Win over Witt was most gratifying, but a win over Finchem was even more so. (I must admit I don't care much for the man.)

Someone asked if a NCAC championship was better than a win over Depauw. Thankfully, there is no reason for the two to be mutually exclusive. Next year the latter could lead to the former.

It's Bell Week. On to Greendingle. Be prepared Little Giants. The Bell game is seldom easy.
When better women are made, Wabash men will make them.

We freaking killed the Tigers!

We're 9-0.

Men among boys - 244 yards vs 10.  WAF!

I said this on the Monon Bell board, but it's apropos.

I wish HDNet would have bought an ad or two for the Bell Game during this "Game Of The Century (FG Edition)".

Alas...

WOW!  Can Mr. Chamblee stick around another year?  So playing this year means he could not have graduated last year and played this year?  Is that true in all of D3 football, or just if school does not have graduate programs?  Cause a number of D3 schools have graduate programs. Don't think he returned one punt today, either.
The two best receivers in the league play for Wabash.  Forget the numbers.  And the best QB and hands down MVP this year also plays for Wabash. It helps to have a fortress in front of you.
Not many Witt fans at game today.  Very suprised!   Beautiful day for a 4 1/2 hour drive.  Absolutely beautiful.  Goodnight.

Maybe, but I'd go with two other teams in the North alone.  Augustana and Alma.

I realize that arguing about 'best 2-7' teams is kinda like arguing about world's tallest midget (Little Giant?! ;D), but what the hey!

Wabash Hokie

A more rational (after sleeping on it) review of the Wabash / Witt game:

Wabash Defense - A PLUS - Great game plan and execution throughout the game.  No let downs and great focus.  Surprised to see the younger Hodges out there for a few plays.  That was a pleasant surprise.

Wabash Offense cannot be given a single grade:

QB - A - Belton showed a lot today and made a believer out of me.  I was wondering if Witt would find some chinks in his armor.  Only made one poor decision all day (at least from my standpoint which almost let to a pick 6) - more about that later.
RB and WR - A - Protected the ball and executed all day.
Offensive Line - B  - Left their A game in the locker room at half time.  Looked like two different groups of guys in the second half.  Injured center seemed to throw a wrench into the works a few times.  Way too many penalties in the 2nd half that were drive killers.

Kicking Game - D MINUS - only reason not an F is because we actually made four extra points. Out of bounds on a kickoff gives Witt great field position, missed two short field goals, shanked punt, and the center and punter decided to play chase a few times.  And, the punter gave Witt a TD by pulling a youth league panic attack.  How can that happen in game 9?  Gimme a break.  Kicker kicks extra points 50 yards and then botches short FGs?  OK for regular season maybe - death knell in the playoffs.

2-Minute drill - D - Left valuable points off of the board at the end of the 1st half.

Alternate Universe - If Wabash does not block the Witt punt for a TD and the one Belton mistake goes for a pick 6, we have a completely different game.  Granted, lots of other plays could have gone the other way as well so I am not saying that Wabash was outplayed or was lucky to win.  I am just saying that Wabash had the chance to come out in the 2nd half and put the screws to Witt and they didn't - no 2nd half offensive TDs. The Wabash D was outstanding - Hammer is to be commended.

That being said - on to Greencastle and winning a 3rd straight Bell game.

DePauw to hell, we'll keep the Bell.

One little pile ot tigers dispatched and NOW ... make the EVIL TIGERS (quote from W public addres announcer) dead dead dead with a losing season.

Then on to the Big Dance.

(And kickers, punters, and long snappers:  please practice this week.)

That was classless.  Keith is doing his job and he is entitled to his opinion.  I thought you were above that kind of remark.

I, for the record, love it when Wabash is not picked to win.  It is far more satisfying to show them, yes we can beat them and totally unnecessary to rub it in to the naysayers...the victory does all of the talking.
Repulse them, repulse them!  Make them relinquish the ellipsoid!

Let's not linger. We have more important things to discuss this week.

I can hear it all the way down in So. Florida...

Keith,

I apologize - formally.  For the record, I was quoting Kevin from The Office (the tv show) - which obviously no one realized.  I'm sorry and it goes without saying that you guys do a great job and I do appreciate that.

I hope that Keith guy picks Wabash to lose every time they play.
