Still it doesn't make sense, though on how one region is treated different than the other.

Plus the statement: "She didn't really answer why the regional committee moved SJF ahead of Endicott (or IWU ahead of Case for that matter), but she made it clear that these were decisions by the respective regional committees not subject to change by the national committee." doesn't make sense with what you just said.

It's OK Wally, you don't have to be correct every single time!  ;)

I didn't hear the entire conversation with Dr. Solomen.  If she said they didn't tweak the lists the RACs game them, then it becomes even more curious that SJF and IWU would have been moved around.  I'm not sure what exactly changed between week 10 and week 11 to move those teams around.  Can we say that the committee was wrong though?  Does anybody really buy CWRU being better than IWU or Endicott being better than SJF?  It's hard to say they did the tournament dirty by making those choices.

Just saying that your statement that you presented as fact, and this statement by Dr. Solomen are at odds. I think Case is better than IC, but if you jumped SJF over Endicott you probably should have jumped Wheaton over Case, too.

And also, if the conversation at the end was about SJF and CWRU, there is a big, hairy common opponent result that does not favor CWRU at all.  That CWRU-Rochester game might have been huge for both CWRU and SJF.

Just looked at the Blueboys statistics.  Looks like no one likes to play defense.  Their opponents statistics should win games.  Be interesting to see Hard Hat D do their magic.  Come on O ... good week of practice to get kinks out ... snappers ... lots of snaps between labs.  D ... simply rest up and eat some red meat.

Also note ... I think game stats at 11 AM ... check this out.

I definitely can see that. SJF vs. Case was probably in the round before, and Case vs IC (and Endicott) was the final pick. That's my guesstimate.

Nope, Wabco, game starts at noon EST.

I realize that what I said is in conflict with what Dr. Solomen said.  What I've said about the secret final regional rankings are how I've understood that process to work.  I'm not one to make this all up as I go...I try to stay informed on this process.  What I've relayed in these forums comes from something official I read or got from somebody who's I trust to be informed (can't remember which at this point)...if I'm wrong about that, then I've been misinformed.

It's certainly possible that Wheaton was above CWRU also.  We'll need to know who those last four out were to be sure.

Does a team with a 55-14 loss that isn't to one of the elite programs deserve an at-large selection?
I have no quarrel with SJF, nor would I with RMC or BW.

If the criteria aren't working, don't change them ad hoc, change them.

Pat are the SoS numbers posted here d3.com calculations or NCAA's?

To be fair Wally, they may have changed the process. Lord knows they've tweaked everything else!

If the NCAA does its numbers right, they will match. Ours are correct.

Big "IF" there.  In baseball last year they published an SoS speadsheet with the regional rankings and they had an error in CWRU's.

If the NCAA does its numbers right, they will match. Ours are correct.

Has Wabash ever played Illinois College before?

Pat Coleman

I think you know that baseball is different than football, with four times as many games and nearly 50% more teams.

Meaning more chances for an error?

D3DB:

I certainly was surprised when the Hope cheerleaders showed up on our side of the field...I thought to myself, "What the heck?" (and it really was "heck" and not something more colorful  :) ).  I had never seen a stadium set up like this in all the games I went to growing up.  The home fans stayed nice and dry and the visiting team had to listen to the cheers against them from right behind the bench.  In spite of the outcome I did at least enjoy getting to see one of the old style football stadiums.
