Its always been scarlet, remember:

"A school color was also needed – one suggestion was heliotrope and many of the fans agreed. Heliotrope, I have learned, is a garden flower grown for its lovely, fragrant, purple flowers. The color is a purplish-pink. Again, from the history Wabash College: the First Hundred Years, "Then a speaker arose, with few words but cogent. 'Heliotrope, Hell!' orated he: 'We want blood!' And scarlet it is."

Hey aueagle:

I know I probably should be posting this over on the soccer boards, however, I don't really know most of those posters there and besides...you are the expert on this. :)  Nonetheless, Hope plays this afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan in the 2nd round of the NCAA soccer playoffs and I was wondering if OWU uses Selby Stadium for that or does OWU have separate soccer facilities?  Just curious.  I think that your OWU has the inside track at winning this one (as they are doing better than your football team, although the latter did have a .500 season in league play and did seem to improve a bit this year).  Anyway, thanks for the info if you get the chance to answer this sometime today.  Hope you are doing well and all best wishes to you (and all our colleagues here on the NCAC board) for a blessed Thanksgiving holiday next week.
Wesleyan has a Soccer facilty. It is called Roy Rike field:

QuoteWidely regarded as among the Midwest's finest soccer facilities, Roy Rike hosted the NCAA Division III men's soccer championship in 1990 and 1998 and the NCAA Division III women's soccer championship in 2001. Its lights have shined upon an overwhelming home-field record by the Bishop men's team, including a 40-game winning streak during the 1991-93 seasons. That home-field advantage also helped the Bishop men post the best record in the NCAA during the 1980s, regardless of division. Roy Rike Field also helped the Bishop women's team assemble an NCAA Division III-record 60-game winning streak during the 2001-03 seasons

Hope this helps

The Big Cookie had some stickers back in the day that said "Go Big Red."  I used to have one.  I knew what he was referring to, Smeds, so I am sure many other did as well...   ;)

Oh my. I had forgotten about those "Big Cookie says..." stickers.

formerd3db: The games will be at Roy Rike Field...OWU's soccer stadium....I got the email update on the games earlier in the week,
but the week has gotten the best of me. Hope ( no pun) we meet in the final.
Thanks Bishopleftiesdad for the photo.....
If I can find it, the update I got had Coach Martin with a "600" jersey - 600 wins.

One of my all-time favorite stories from Wabash history.  Thank goodness for that kid...I probably wouldn't own half the gear I do if we wore purple (no offense to the purple wearing fans out there).

You watch to much Kenyon girls club soccer.

That was a Wabash cheer from the the  middle 70s to the 80s ... was actually utilized during the Stag Bowl.  That was the reason for my making it.

So ... back to Kenyon girls club soccer.

But thanks for your attempt at correction.

Wabco,

While nostalgia is nice (and I understand the connection, of course, since I was in town in the 70's), we're now in the same conference with a Big Red.

Scarlet is so much more descriptive.

Besides, I was just following a suggestion by a boss-man, my friend.

Illinois College head coach Garrett Campbell interview on the playoffs and this Saturday's game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT-nZyf3lOI&feature=player_embedded

"They have a returner that is a very Devin Hester-like...we are going to have to play very good on special teams."
"They have a Defense that blitzes the heck out of the Quarterback...we are going to have to pass protect."

He seems like a class act.

You got that right about Garrett Campbell being a class act alright BB-16...

He was the OC at Carthage in 04 when they went to the final 4 I believe...He was recruiting my son hard and made a trip to Carthage...Head coach Rucks there I did not care for so much...but Campbell was a star...I told Andrew he waill absolutely be a head coach someday...and of course he is and has taken the Blueboys where they have not been before...

Campbells father is (or was) a head coach in California and was close friends with Bill Walsh...close enough that in the recruiting process Garrett broke out Bill Walsh's play book he had been given by "The Coach" himself...was a very Kewl moment for Andrew and I as we love football so much...

I was actually at the Blueboys first game of the season at their stadium last year...Andrew at Greenville had his frist game on a Friday night so I stopped in Jacksonbville the following afternoon on the way home to catch Garrett Campbeel in his new digs and see how they looked against Milikin seeing as Greenville would be playing Milikin in a couple weeks...

The Blueboys can score...but they could not stop the great RB from Milikin and he was D3FOOTBALL player of the week...

In the hopes that Wabash would arrive again in the playoffs I have been to see several opponets I thopught we may be matched up against...I saw Benedictine play 3 times...Illinois Weslyan once and North Central 3 times as well as once online....

Saw some very good football...After we beat the Blueboys I will get on here and talk about North Central as I have been to see them at least one or two times a year since 2005...

Unfortunately I will not be at Wabash for tyhe game Saturday as Andrew's team Greenville was invited to a Bowl game in Kentucky Saturday after they won the last 7 straight games...they will play Campbellsville University....

I would appeciate it if someone could text me and update the score for me regularly...224-531-7111

DadofBashWarrior -   I would be happy to keep you updated via text.

There has been virtually nothing on the boards from IC posters.... even on the MWC Board.... nothing.

Here are some articles out of Jacksonville IL this week:

bishopleftiesdad and aueagle:

Thank you for the info and picture.  Roy Rike field looks excellent.  OWU and Hope would seem to have among the top small college soccer homes. Until last year, Hope was somewhat behind in soccer facilities until VanAndel Stadium was built with a very generous (huge) donation by that family; we now have a rathar large bricked stadium, with arches/wrought iron fenses, the new synthetic turf, permanent seating for over 1,400, partly covered upper stands and pressbox, large electronic scoreboard and permanent lights for night games.

Anyway, it will be neat to see if OWU and Hope meet in the final.  The first games are about underway at this time as I recall from the soccer website info from Hope. Thanks again.
GO HOPE! :)

Looks like the only weather that could affect the action in Crawfordsville tomorrow, may be a cross wind of 17-20 mph coming out of the South.    Should be fine though.

For some reason, this has seemed like a very long wait.
