I forgot about that.

I am finding it only slightly irritating that Wabash did not stand a chance against NCC, hell I don't even know why we showed up for that a$$ whipping, but the fact that we actually won the game doesn't count. NCC choked, they blew it. It didn't have anything to do with the fact that our coaches made adjustments and our players simply weren't intimidated.

Now here we go again. We have a skinny, little broke down QB. We aren't good enough on Offense and we are missing folks on Defense. That is one heck of a long bus ride just to go up to Alliance to get man handled. Maybe, just maybe, we can figure out a way to get Mount to choke one away! I'm pretty sure we can.

Wabash Always Fights!    8-)

Not to nit-pick, but every team at this point of the season is banged up. Mount's 1st team All-OAC TB is banged up and hasn't played much the last couple weeks and their 1st team All-OAC WR played this week for the first time in a month+ on 1 leg.  And we're playing our back-up QB too as the starter was lost a couple weeks ago.

Uncle vs. Nephew.  Both with back-up QB's.  Sounds interesting.

Honestly, I expect this to be a VERY close game.  A couple plays one way or the other will determine the outcome in my opinion.  Defensively what worries me is the Mount defense's lack of QB pressure this season when compared to previous defenses and the DB's tendency to lose track of a WR or two sometimes.  Especially in 3rd down situations.  There have been way too many 3rd & 15 conversions by opponents this season for my liking.  Saw a couple last week against Centre and Benedictine had one as well.   Pass rush almost always has to be generated from a blitz or simply pure passing situation where they can situational substitute to quicker D-linemen than the starters.

Offensively the running game is solid, but not a difference maker.  Will hurt you if you forget about it, but they have not run it down anyone's throat this season or last year.  Best part of the offense is the WR corps.  Deep and talented, especially if the leading WR could heal up before Saturday.  O-line is solid, but not dominant.  QB has really strong arm, but has been inconsistent.

Should be a darn good game.

Coach,
This was my attempt at being sarcastic. I am fully aware that by this time in the season, most teams are pretty banged up. At Wabash as I am sure is also the case at Mount, "next man up" is really how we do it. I am expecting a great, close game also. I can't wait for Saturday...

Fact is,  if Mount waltzes into the game on Saturday and over looks this Wabash team,  THEY WILL GET BEAT.......

You don't get Larry Kehres's record if your team overlooks any opponent for even one second.  That business just doesn't happen in that outfit.  Ever.  They know that press clippings aren't worth a single point in a playoff game.  They know that not one of their 10 rings is worth a single point in a game.  They know that whatever league they play in isn't worth a single point in a game.  They don't lose because they don't allow themselves to get ambushed.  If you beat Mount Union, it's because you were better.

I think North Central's coaching staff got dinged by a bit of hubris...they believed that they could disrupt a passing game with their front four and their front four only.  That front four was awesome, but...they were a step late the entire second half.  So Wabash slings the ball downfield for one scoring drive...and then a second...and then a third.  Think you might slip in a blitz somewhere on the fourth drive and maybe try something different to keep the ball from getting downfield?  Nope.  That's the adjustment that NCC could have made and just didn't.  Fellas, we turned into Witt in that second half...drop back, let our two beast WRs run 15-20 yard patterns downfield and throw it to 'em.  I can promise you that Coach Kehres won't sit back and watch Wabash score TDs on four straight drives in that fashion wthout changing the dynamic somehow.  It's going to be a wicked chess match on Saturday.

Wally,

Your post is right on point! :)

Here is some footage of the Wabash Sphinx pledges showing off their chants and yells in 1928.  It is the first couple minutes of this clip.  At the end, around 13:10, is footage of the newly finished Butler Bowl, which will be familiar to Indianapolis residents.

Does anyone know if Wabash is putting together any student buses to head for Alliance this weekend?  If I am not mistaken, they have done something like that in the past.  Maybe in 2002?

Another note:

1st -  the week and a half leading up to the Bell Game -  work production dropped to 50%

2nd -  the week leading up to Illinois College - work production rose to 70%

3rd -  the week leading up to N. Central game - work production dropped to a low of 40%

4th -  This week uuughhh!

If I didn't work for myself,  I would fire me.  ;)  Maybe I still will.  :o

Sounds like you are an awesome boss. Are you by chance hiring?  8-)

No surprise, but the Play of the Week on the D3football.com home page is the 2-point conversion at the end of the Wabash - North Central game.  :)

I don't know if everyone noticed from the game notes,  but there is NO video stream of this week's Wabash/Mount Union game.....

(very surprised that a program this successful and with so many proud Alums throughout the country has not set this up yet?)

EVERYONE TO ALLIANCE!!! (If you want to see it)  ;)

WAF!

It is on broadcast TV. (STO- Tape Delay, but first class professional quality) As long a someone is willing to pay to put it on TV, why would the University give away the rights and allow a shaky second-class webcast? As an alum, I'm proud that Joe Tait, former voice of the Cleveland Cavs announces the STO broadcast. Come to the game or watch it at Midnight on satellite. Throughout the regular season, STO also does an OAC game of the week broadcast.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I'm sure the quality is great. I think everyone's just surprised, and disappointed, that it's not shown live. Nothing disparaging about it.

LK has also shown "reluctance" to stream their games live on the web.

Not sure why, but that has been his stance.

WABCOL86

Well, we have had quite a bit of luck with ours.  It is even better as of late.  Technology has evolved quite a bit.  Shame it isn't being shown live...

I believe D3Sports stepped in and made a webstream of the Linfield/Wesley game happen last week.  I have no idea what the logistics of such a project are, but maybe something similar could happen here.

Be great if they did, Wally.  I know I cannot make it to Alliance....
