It's be interesting if lower division schools ever go to a central repository for all game films. At least a few years back, I remember some serious horse trading going on between coaches to get game film on opponents above and beyond what conference rules, the game contract, or playoff rules mandated in formal film exchange.

Also, looking at the Massey schedule strength.

Mt. Union - 62
Wabash - 88

So this isn't your final score prediction?

Massey also gives Wabash as 14% cahnce of winning, but who cares about the BCS guru

BashBro-Sportstime Ohio is on Dish networks all over of the United States. Much better exposure than a webcast. No one is stopping a Wabash broadcast
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Just a question..could the Wabash video feed people purchase the live tv feed and put it out over their web site...seems in the world of technology this is possible

All set for the trip to Alliance.  We have our tickets and room reserved.  Due to work demands, we are only going as far as Columbus/Worthington on Friday night.  If any other of the Wabash faithful are staying in that area Friday night and want to meet up for some playoff-eve TWR, send me a PM.  I'll even buy the first round!

Generally agree with what you're saying here, bashbro, but I'm not sure you'd get many people paying $20 per game to watch Mount Union roll through their regular season home games.  I do think for a program with Mount Union's juice, there are ad revenue streams that could be tapped into with a live web broadcast.  I think the bottom line here is that, either because of resources or the department's unwillingness to put together a broadcast, Mount Union is just behind the pack when it comes to this.  It's certainly not their obligation to broadcast their games on the internet but, as I've noted before, it would be nice if the team carrying the D3 football banner would be out in front of getting these games out to the masses of fans that want to see them.

Not to beat this topic over the head with a bat,  but whatever perceived negatives have formed LK's policy on the matter, I believe are outweighed by the positives.

Exposure is exposure - and it does far more good than bad

If it is the fact that he doesn't want people being able to scout from a far,  I say nope.....   UWW isn't losing much program momentum from it and webcasts are hard to scout from.

If it is wanting more home fans? I say nope.....  I bet you maybe get 30 more people in the stands because of the policy.... but, ignore hundreds around the country and even the World.   Including loyal donating alums, recruits, families of players, students on break, NFL scouts etc.'

If it is a question of budget,  wrong again.....  for any given home game, you could charge $20 per viewer and probably get at least 200 to tune in.   $4,000.....  Get a sponsor(s) and that could potentially grow to $5,000 - $7,000.

The if we do it for Football, we'll have to do it for every sports argument?   Don't know the landscape, and I don't think this is truly the issue,  but may be something from a budget standpoint.

Again, it's not broken, LK's policies are working pretty darn well... I just don't think changing this one would have significant impact on anything.   Obviously, with the game 2 days away, I am not trying a last ditch appeal for coverage.   But next year and the year after that,  I and many wouldn't mind watching some games from a far to see what the Top of the Mountain looks like.

Sounds alot like old man Wirtz when he was running the Blackhawks. Only televised road games because he wanted people to go to the home games and thought televising them would help attendance. From his Wikipedia page:

"He was vilified by Blackhawks fans for forbidding Blackhawks home games to be shown on TV unless they were picked up by national broadcasters, which only happened when the Blackhawks made the playoffs. As he explained it, he felt that broadcasting regular home games was unfair to season-ticket holders. For a short time during the 1992 and 1993 seasons, Wirtz introduced Hawkvision, a pay-per-view service that operated in conjunction with Chicago's local SportsChannel outfit, which cost $29.95 per month and broadcast Blackhawks home games."

Frankly, as a 40 year Mount fan, I really do not think that there has been a great cry for a live web stream of Purple Raider games.  If there has, it has been kept a secret.  I think it is a case of Mount being behind the curve on this sort of thing.  The college does have a fine communications department, and could probably use this as a big part of the production.
There has been more interest from the Bash folks on the board than there ever has been from Mount fans on the subject

This could also be part of the different diaspora of the alumni bases. While many Wallies live in Indiana, many do not and don't have the resources to come to C'ville. Even a jaunt from Chicago isn't always convenient (what with the endless construction and all). What percentage of Mt. Union alums live within 2 hours of Alliance?

Wabash is better than LSU because...

We can take this to the most logical extreme:

Kenyon is better than Wabash because:
Kenyon is better than  Carnegie Mellon because Kenyon only lost to Allegheny 31 - 17
while Carnegie Mellon lost to Allegheny 33 - 13
Carnegie Mellon is better than  Wabash because Carnegie Mellon beat Ohio Wesleyan 41 - 10
while Wabash only beat Ohio Wesleyan 28 - 7

Go Lords! (and invest in your football program instead of whining about the vast academic disparity between NCAC members)

smedindy

Hah!

Ah, yes, Lords, perhaps if you're so worried about 'slumming' with Denison and Oberlin (and the rest) maybe you should drop out of the GLCA too!

Not only will two great programs be meeting on the gridiron Saturday at noon, but two great...errr....good...errr....deranged....ummm....football fans can meet in Alliance Friday night.

Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill

It's on EAST State Street, close to the intersection of State & Mahoning.

1490 E. State St., Alliance, OH  44601

Approximately around 8 PM.

All are welcome....we even let Seventies join the festivities.   8-)

OldCaveman

Looks like nice weather for the game on Saturday...mid 40's and partly sunny. I won't be in Alliance Saturday due to a previous engagement. I hope that both the Wabash players and the Wabash fans have a better experience than in 2002.
I think what the LG's will see in MU is speed in the skill positions that they haven't seen yet. Their recievers will be faster than any we've seen...and their DB's will be faster and better than we've seen. I remember 2002...our receivers couldn't get any separation...among a whole lot of other things that MU beat us at. At least...let's not fumble the first punt snap and let them have an easy TD first thing!!! This is a different Wabash team than in the past...especially with the defense. Go LG's. Wabash ALWAYS Fights

BayernFan

Agree OldCaveman..... I remember in an early drive Knott perfectly led a receiver by a couple yards but the defender made up that distance before the ball got there....laid out.... and made the pick.

Mount will be a tough one.

Will Raeburn's familiarity with Mount help at all?  I hope so.

This is a pretty popular sentiment, and probably accurate.  Also not prohibitive to winning the game because the same things were true last week.

BTW, do we know that the reverse isn't true?  Are we sure that Wabash doesn't have the fastest skill guys and LBs and DBs and whatever that Mount Union has seen this season?
