I often wonder if coaches should say to use only one time out in the third quarter and burn a play then instead of not having a timeout in a key situation in the fourth quarter.

That was an incredible, incredible performance. Our offense isn't quite there yet, but it's not a world away. If the mark of a good program is a deliberate and ascending march toward the top, this season can only be regarded as a success. What a trip these last 5 weeks have been. I hope we can remember next season how little we can actually know about a team before they are truly tested.

Very well said.  Wabash football took a step forward this year.  They didn't just win the league and get into the playoffs.  They earned results against premiere teams (the win over NCC and a legitmately competitive game against Mount Union) that they were not getting before.  Wabash is now in that top 6-7 conversation.  There are more steps for Wabash to take, but they're a lot closer to the top of the mountain than they are the bottom.  And, as you've mentioned BD, Wabash is going to better next year.

The offseason will be long...but I'm thankful that it's three weeks shorter than it could have been.   :)

Does anyone know who Wabash is facing in Week 2 of 2012?

The NCAC future schedule shows seven conference games (not playing Hiram or Kenyon) and two UAA tilts (CMU and Wash U.), and nothing in week 2.

Congrats to the Little Giants on a stellar season!  A very classy program and fan base!  :-*

I agree with BashDad. I could just not understand why the slowness of getting the plays called in and then started, which happened all game and, IMO, seemed to set the tone of the day for Wabash.  I thought that hurt Wabash (among other aspects which I mentioned on a post over on the OAC board).

Still, they had a great overall season and congrats to them.

There are rumors out there that Wabash will be playing Hanover next year.

Meh.

Triple Meh.

sigma one

yes, Hanover, probably a done deal.

smedindy

A one-year deal?

Hanover used to be a stellar opponent. I remember one year they threw over 80 passes against us in that run-and-shoot they used.

I said probably, and probably for one year, but . . .

Great season Wabash!
Did seem that the offense was out of sync on offense all game.
When you think how off the offense was, the defense was even better than the numbers indicate.
Belton looked a lot more mobile than I thought he would be.  But I did not think he would play.
I wonder if Raeburn thought of bringing him in sooner. Maybe even starting him.
Hindsight is always 20/20.
Also, it looked like a strategy to have Chamblee fair catch a lot of punts.  Am I wrong on that?  Was the coverage so good on punts that it forced fair catches?  I know that Kehres mentioned how good a returner Wes is and they would have to be careful with him.  I guess it was only 3 fair catches.

Mount Union had nice, high kicks and their coverage gets downfield a step or two quicker than most teams out there.  I don't think it was a strategy to just go and fair catch everything...you don't holster that weapon in the national quarterfinals.  Mount Union did a great job to limit Wabash's opportunities in the punt return game.
