Man, the several hours I've just wasted really wouldn't be possible without the already posted and comprehensive weekly schedules on the home page.

Kickoff is going to ruin me. I might as well stay in bed.

No doubt.  There are some really good games in week 1.  Week 2 might even be better.

I was looking at Lindys rankings .... don't know who or what is putting this together

Illinois College #13 ?  Really?  Not the team I saw in the playoffs.

Then Lindys says Witt and Wabash #20 & 21.  Really?

Followed by Franklin at #8 and North Central down in double digits below them.  Really?

Look for Mount to beat bumps on #8.

AND:  Hanover over #13.

Pat Coleman

I don't know if Hanover beats Illinois College but that should be an interesting game.

Re: Week 1 -- I'm going on a four-game road trip with my son, a game Thursday, one Friday and two (driving permitting) Saturday. It's a good weekend to start the season with.

Not so fast, my friend.

OK Bash Dad

You, me, BB16, et. al., with 16's beer stash and treats ... I take Mount "beating bumps on #8".  You take "not so fast".  Whoever has been proven correct ... opens the first one for the other.

Then a hour before the game, the raider mascot mask comes on.

I won't be using the Mount Union/Franklin game in the pick 'em, so here's my quick take on what I think happens there...

For three weeks leading into that game, Mount Union is practicing against Mount Union.  Franklin is not practicing against Mount Union.  The first 20 minutes or so of that game is going to be very, very difficult for Franklin.  The Grizzlies may well adjust to Mount Union speed after 20 minutes or so, but by then they'll be chasing 4 TDs.  If Franklin gets off the deck after that initital blitzkreig, I think they'll probably lose by 18-24.  If they don't, they'll lose by 35-40 (or more).  I think this would be a much, much better game later in the season and especially after one or two playoff games to get Franklin ramped up for the Purple Raiders.  I just think it's a huge ask to be ready for that game on September 1.

What does "beating bumps" equate to in point spread?  Pretty subjective...  Gotta quantify that before placing beer opening bets.  Personally I would equate "beating bumps" to a 28 point margin.  If so, Bash Dad stands a very good chance of being served a beer in style.  Regardless of who ends up winning...  Don't spill any!

This sounds great. Who's buying my plane ticket?

For the league, the week one Big McLarge Huge game is Wittenberg / Capital. Yeah, Cap's been bleah in the OAC the past couple of years, but bleah in the OAC of course could mean a top 3 team in the NCAC in most years.

I think Witt can go into Cap and snag one for the good guys.

I would love to see an NCAC sweep. That would mean Hiram and Kenyon needs to beat mid-pack PAC and HCAC teams. Do they have it in them?

Maybe they can squeeze four quarters into just one day this time around.   :)

First:  I am comfortable that "beating bumps" equates to 28 point win.

Second:  Bashdad ... plane ticket ... now that is a more serious problem.  The way I see it, either way, we are drinking #16's beer.  So ... first I will open them as if you lost ... or in the event you did not ... I will open them as if I lost.

And I will add to the "bumps" equation.  Wabash first game ... we will "beat bumps" on Hanover.  And I am comfortable with that equating to 28 points.  AND I hereby double down the bet with Bashdad for the Hanover contest ... using #16's beer again of course ... although the payup will not occur till the Gheny game at home (the same time and place of the payup on the Mount "bump beating".)

Okay, but you really have to mean it.

Kind of how the Wabash - Mount Union playoff game went last year. I thought Wabash played Mount pretty tough last year. With Wabash and Franklin being the two best Indiana DIII teams, and I would say it's debatable who will be better this season, I think Franklin has a shot to surprise on Sep 1.  Wabash had such a great D last year and will this year as well. I would give Franklin the nod on offense over Wabash this year though.
By "speed" do you mean overall speed at every position, or just at the skill spots?
