Dunno if anyone has posted it, but Witt's preview is up:

Relatedly, why are the tigers going to be good this year? "Their D," would be the expected response I guess,  but... yeah, I'm skeptical. Will they be good? Couldn't you see them having one of those what-the-hell-just-happened 6-4 seasons? They could lose, without really exhausting one's imagination, 4 of their first 5 games.

I don't want this to happen. I should say that.

For the Old Tigers, it's Reed Florence. If he shines - they'll win. If he can't handle the full-time job (instead of the change-up QB), they'll struggle. As hoary as the cliche is, it's all about the QB for Witt.

Right, but remind me what was so impressive about him last year? He ran goal-line stuff, didn't he? Tebow-lite kind of thing?

Is the 'dodging' Case's fault or the NCAC / UAA powers-that-be?

I don't think it was Case's fault. (At least not the Football Program's)
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Karma hit. Good. That MUST mean there's some effing Witt fan lurking. Post, dude. POST. POST YOUR DEFENSE. LET'S DO THIS.

It does seem like they have a lot of question marks, especially at the skill positions.  Which might mean they have to rely on the D until they sort things out and, as you pointed out, that first half of the schedule is no joke.  What's the easy win in that stretch?  I don't think it's crazy at all to wonder about Witt right now.

He did some good things on the goal line and against the dregs. I would say he could be Wietoff-esque, perhaps (to put it in NCAC-type perspective knowing that most of the other teams never saw DPU with Wietoff).

But if Florence doesn't elevate his game and show he's no more than a change-up, then they could have serious issues and would have to rely on their defense.

In 2013 CWRU plays Linfield and Trinity.

Sadly the PAC seems as clueless as the NCAC in scheduling.  TMC and W&J are the class of the   PAC and CWRU is scheduled to play each in 2014 and 15, but neither in 2016 and 17.

Smeds - I can only hope that Florence will be like Wiethoff!  What did Wiethoff ever win??  Dude was a pretty good runner (quick and elusive) but couldn't throw very well at all and that hurt him (he was 1-3 in Bell games).  I have to think Reed will be a better all around QB.  I thought Florence was bigger as Witt shows him at 205.

Just my 2 cents.

P.S.  Ross didn't come to Wabash because there are no girls.   :o

His class was 1-3.  He wasn't.  He played in 2 full ones and 12 snaps in a 3rd before getting hurt.

Ok,  as we are a little over a week away,  lets make some NCAC predictions:

Here are mine:

Upset of the Year: Case Western over Wittenberg

Newcomer of the Year:   John Laird WR -  Wabash

NCAC Offensive Player of the Year:   Chase Belton QB -  Wabash

NCAC Defensive Player of the Year:   AJ Akinribade LB -  Wabash

2012 - Monon Bell Game  Over/Under 50  -   I'll Take the Over (54-0)  ;)

Biggest Turn-around Team  -   Wooster 7-3  (2011 - 4-6)

Conference Game of the Year  -   Wabash at Wittenberg - (10/06)

Biggest Blow-out Hiram @ Witt - (11/03)

Surprisingly Close Game  Wabash at Wash U - (10-13)   Depauw at Witt - (9-15)

AJ Akinribade will have a great season, but I put my money on Nate Scola as the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year

And you probably have a better perspective on these players than anyone here. Welcome to the boards! :)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Over under on when DPU's roster will be updated:  A)  the night before their first game?  B)  Mid-season by game #6?  C)  Or, they won't, they will leave the 2011 roster posted due to a de-emphasis in DPU athletics?
