Great win for the Bishops yesterday.  The thought of an OWU kicker setting any type of school or conference record that didn't involve futility may be one of the biggest turnarounds for this aspect of the program.

Welcome to the NCAC Depauw! I think that hit on the opening kickoff to cause a fumble was your initiation!

This is instant karma for years of listening to all of that junk about how soft this league is.  It is not rugged top to bottom, no.  But you don't just show up here and win this league.  There are some good teams and good programs that you have to beat to win it.

It's still a soft league.  DePauw is a bad football team.  I never pointed at Witt for being the reason the league was soft.  I am well aware of how good they have been and continue to be.  That's not at all relevant to how crappy the middle and bottom of this league is.  That was never a part of that conversation.  DePauw's a part of that bad middle/bottom now.  So?

In fact, I always said that as long as Wabash beats Wittenberg, which isn't always easy, you win the league.  Sooooo.... I don't get it.

There were some pretty good Allegheny teams in 2009 and 2010 that can put pause to that.

And, oh, the might SCAC - when was the last time Sewanee, Rhodes or Austin were anything but fodder? I'll not dive back into Colorado College...

Wes,

I don't think those were your comments we're referring to - not at all.  For years all we heard was how weak our conference is.  To those Dannie remarks, welcome to the league.  I'd be curious to hear what the Dannie alums have to say.  There are some serious problems in Greencastle these days!  Thankfully, in hindsight, Wabash had some guys named Knott, Boulais, & and Short to help soften the "welcome to the league effect.". By the time they were seniors, we cracked it winning at Witt 46-43.  (well documented) DPU doesn't have anyone like those guys.  We may be looking at several years before they get back to a respective level.

It will be interesting to watch.

When Witt plays Bash on October 6, I can't wait to see the Witt O vs the Bash D.  Florence runs a lot and the Bash LB's will be lurking :)

Holy crap - another Dannie coach takes the night train.  "Not following school policies and meeting administrative expectations".  Dark days ahead for the lost tribe of Dan.

I'll just leave this here.

Wes - What is your take on this?  This press release speaks volumes in what it doesn't say.  To say this has nothing to do with football is a little hard to take.  Could this be a power move to show that the state of football at DPU is unacceptable?

Unbelievable.  To "can" a guy early/mid-season is a bold move and one that makes you wonder what the heck is going on.  WOW.  If it is non-football related, how do you explain the fact it follows a 52-14 drubbing last night???  That is a tough question to answer for the DPU administration.

I do have some questions now. If you were looking to become a head coach anywhere, would you ever, ever consider DePauw right now? I'd think that even the jobs at Kenyon and Hiram, if they were to open up again, would be more attractive. I'd much rather have the job at Oberlin right now.

Yikes.

And why is it just football? The other programs seem to have stability!

Sorry, Wes, and other tiger supporters.  Really--I mean that.  Even if it had nothing to do with football, the timing is suspicious, after a bad defeat, and will just lead those who follow DPU to surmise that it does have something to do with football.  The DPU statement is more than they ever said about the Walker departure though.  I watched the first half last night, and wow. . . .Witt may be spectacular. . .or DPU has a big rebuilding job. . .or both.  If Robbie was doing something the administration could not tolerate, wouldn't it make sense to have dealt severely with it earlier?  Was there a "tipping point" over the weekend in addition to the game, or having nothing to do with the game?  What a shame for the student-athletes.

Li'l Giant

We had a discussion about DPU's administration's "lack of support" for football. This today looks like outright sabotage of its own program. I don't know how a coach would ever consider Depauw after  this many mysterious coach changes.
