It is official!
Wife will accompany me to Wabash OWU game in a couple weeks.
Wooster vs. DePauw just will not suffice this year.

The front page, if you haven't seen it, has a terrific gallery of "fantastic finishes" inspired by Bethel's miracle on Saturday. The Catch is #5. It's a really, really cool collection.

I had forgotten that it was our own NCAC officials that jammed Rowan in that national semifinal against Bridgewater.  Ouch.

Yeah, that one is surprisingly hard to watch for a neutral observer a decade removed. It's... well. Yeah. Ugh.

Looks like change is on its way at Depauw. I just hope they do enough to get back into the arms race.

They didn't need to fire Long to accept this money and get the new athletic campaign going.

h/t to ETP for pointing this out to me...but this is a real possibility:

Wabash, Witt, and OWU can all (very reasonably) finish at 9-1.  Let that rattle around in the mentals for a little bit.

As we mentioned earlier, this scenario would send Wabash as the automatic qualifier.  Intuition tells you that Witt would be the next best candidate, but I don't think that would be the case.  Wittenberg would have zero wins against RR'd teams and their SOS is going to nosedive in the last two weeks.  OWU would have a decent chance at having a win over a RR'd team (CMU, if CMU can absorb a second loss and be RR'd...maybe) and will probably wind up with a slightly better SOS than Wittenberg thanks to CMU being regional for OWU.  Criteria would probably favor the Bishops in this scenario.

True, but I feel the school had an idea that they were coming into some money and wanted to make a coaching change to coincide with the campus upgrades. They probably think they can get more $$$ for upgrades if they have a coach that the alumni feel they can get behind.

With two losses it will be pretty hard for CMU to be Regionally Ranked in the south. There are a lot of really good south teams this year. I don't think a 2 loss CMU will be able to crack it.
UMHB, Johns Hopkins/Gettysburg winner, Waynesburg stand good shots at being undefeated. Wesley (UMHB), Birmingham Southern (Wesley), W&L/RMC winner, JHU/Gettysburg loser, stand good shots at being 1 loss teams. La College (Wesley UMHB), Huntingdon (Wesley BSC), Trinity (UMHB SRSU??), H-SC (Huntingdon, Catholic??) (if they can top the other 2 ODAC teams), CNU (Salisbury, H-SC) could be two loss teams with very strong schedules.
For a 2 loss CMU to crack the regional rankings they are going to need help.

CMU is going to destroy OWU.

Have two NCAC teams ever made the tournament in the same year?
Who would ever have imagined a year ago that "OWU" would be used in the same sentence with Witt and Wabash by anyone with regards to contention for the league title.
Amazing.  As a Scots follower, I can look to the Wabash OWU game as possibly being the new game of the year in the NCAC this year, only because the Wabash Witt game is history. Being out of the chase allows one to look past games and into the future without fear of jinxing said team.
Can anyone say Coach of the Year?

BashDad

You guys. OWU has played 5 teams that have won, in total, 7 games. Let's take a breath.
