We'll take it.....  34-14

Again, truly hope that Mr. Belton is ok....
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

OWU wins 33-14.

6-0 start for the Bishops!  I don't care who they have played or what will happen in the coming weeks... it is a positive and welcomed sight for a program that was spiraling....

Coaching changes work!  Bravo

Top 25 Shake-up -    #9, #11, #13, #16, #20, #21, #25 all lost.   Look for Wabash to move up at least 2 spots.

According to Wabash radio...unofficially...Belton suffered a poke in the eye.  He remained on the field and was even part of the "signal corp" sending in plays to Walsh.  MacDougall has been bothered by a hamstring injury for the last 2 weeks and apparently aggravated it enough to be removed from the game.  It was obvious on the video that he was not following through on his two PAT's.  The final straw was the short kickoff after Wabash's 2nd TD.  The announcer said he was showing signs of a problem after that kick.

Glad that Belton's injury is no more serious than that.

Wabash Hokie

News from the game - Belton took a shot to the head on his last long run and was shaken up - possible concussion and held out.  No need to take a chance.

Don't know about kicker injury but coaches obviously pissed about another missed PAT.  Replacement did just fine - was kicking some nice field goals before 2nd half (but that is just practice).

Wabash played a "workman" like game - not a lot of passion but they delivered the mail.

The tailgate, on the other hand, was great.  There was a huge turnout of local alumni along with the normal crowd of football parents and travelling fans.

Finally, heard through the grapevine that Wabash may enter into a home and home with Hampden-Sydney College sometime  next couple of years.  If that comes to fruition, it would be a great event for both schools.

Denison should have covered Oberlin's Robin Witjes - 12 catches, 222 yards and 2 TDs.

We may not want to sleep on the Yeomen anymore since Josh Mandel is back behind center. He made a huge difference.

Bad news is they close with Wabash and Witt...so...yeah.

Looking at the championship puzzle, it seems that there are big games each week:

Oct. 20 - Witt @ Allegheny. If Witt wins, that leaves OWU as the last unbeaten standing. A Gators win puts them in complete control of their destiny.

Oct. 27 - Wabash @ OWU. A Wabash win could put them in control and there could be FOUR one-loss teams after this week.

Nov. 3 - OWU @ Allegheny - This will remove one of these teams from the mix.

Nov. 10 - DPU @ Wabash - A Bell game for a chance at a conference title and a Pool "A" bid (depending on other factors) - sign me up.

(Yes, Kenyon has a chance for one loss but I brought them up just to bring out the fear and loathing on the board. They couldn't possibly beat DPU, Gheny, Wooster and Denison in a row, could they? Well, after seeing all of the shenanigans in the baseball post season I'll never say never again.)

If true I shudder to think what K-Mack's game prediction will be.

Wooster 42, Hiram 7, 8:51 to go in the third.

Will this wake up the Scots (a bit too late?) or is it just a game against Hiram...

Unlikely, but the Kenyon football program has taken a huge step forward this season.  I was really impressed with the level of intensity that the Lords played with today as well as the offensive play-calling.  These guys play hard and have some young skill players that could lay the groundwork to have them really be competitive in the next few years.  OWU got the job done today but keep in mind that they had two long interceptions returned for touchdowns.  Eliminate these two plays and you have a completely different game.  These 2 or 3 types of game breaking plays have been on OWU's side all year long whether it has been due to their own playmaking abilities (see 4 picks against DPU) or their opponent's lapse at key points in the game (see CWRU's two roughing the punter penalties and a missed FG with a minute left in the game).

The margin for error against OWU's final four opponents is going to be much, much smaller.  The good news is that the Bishops still haven't played their best football yet.  Far from it.  And I think they know this and the level of preparation from week to week is going to be at an extremely high level.

It's CMU now.  How to take and respond to punches from a heavyweight is something they will need on the forefront of their minds before taking on the conference champs on 10/27.

Already have that game on the schedule in ink. Semi- retirement is cool. You OWU guys, is the Bishop family getting stoked?  I would love to see Selby with 5000 or 6000 or more people there on the 27th. Is that possible?  I bet the Wabash warriors will be there in force. Please stay undefeated!

Any idea if the Red Squad game against Depauw will come off next Sunday?  DPU has cancelled all of their JV games to date.
