Pretty funny, Coach Fincham quote in Springfield paper before OWU/Bash game:  "Obviously, we have to root for Wabash, I think I just threw up in my mouth"

That's fantastic.

Wabash back in the Top 10 (at #10)  of the d3football.com Top 25. Wittenberg just out of the Top 25 at 26th.

...and owu lost ALL the points they had...dropping out of sight completely!!

I was a little disappointed to see that because I do think Ohio Wesleyan made a good enough showing to warrant top 25 consideration.  I actually have OWU moving up one spot on my North Region fan ballot this week despite the loss.  That's a good team in Delaware right now.

SigmaOne or others,

Any word on the # of Monon Bell tickets they will sell this year - for each school?  As I said earlier, I heard it was going to be lower than the last few Bell games.  Just curious.

Also, do regional rankings come out today?  When?

I am predicting Wabash at #3 behind Mount and NCC.

Wednesday afternoon, as linked by Pat there.

I think you're probably right about what that ranking will be, although I would disagree with the ordering of Wabash and North Central.  Wabash has a superior SOS (13th compared to NCC's 63rd), better results vs. RRO (LGs will be 2-0 as Witt and OWU will be ranked, NCC will be 1-0 with the Elmhurst win...hard to see IWU being ranked right now).  There's also the matter of undefeated Concordia-Chicago (34th SOS, should be 1-0 vs RRO) who could sneak in there, maybe even ahead of both Wabash and North Central.

It won't matter next year, though, with the round robin. You'll have a result against everyone.

In interests of balance and fairness, maybe they'll just handicap the scores or ban them completely??? ;D ;D ;)

"Welcome to Hiram for today's conference battle between the Terriers and the Fighting Gators of Allegheny College.  We've had the coin flip, Allegheny has deferred to the second half.  The NCAC tabulator has accounted for current/anticipated injuries, home/away SOS, five year rolling averages, and unscheduled bathroom breaks. The following value of "gimme points" is assigned, and now appears on the scoreboard.  It's Hiram 39.5  Allegheny 0 ( ??? - half point deduction for no paper in stall 3) as we're ready to get underway."

Cheekiness aside, there are two weeks of league games to be sorted out.

With two weeks remaining in the season, fully half of the teams in the NCAC still have a mathematical chance to win the conference title outright (Allegheny, Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan, Wabash, Wittenberg).  Yes, even Gheny, although a lot of bizarre things would have to happen (such as Hiram beating Witt).
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

If Hiram beats Witt, well, I'm selling my things and preparing for the end times.

As far as RR goes - I have a sneaking feeling Concordia - Chicago will be in there at #2 or #3.

BashBacker:

My understanding is that DePauw was issued 3900 tickets (compares to the "approximate" 4000 issued in 2010).   Regarding the number of temporary seats and Hollett capacity, I don't know what Wabash is planning.   With a home game this weekend, I would think that Wabash would be holding off installing some of the temporary bleachers until next week.  I don't know how long it takes to put them together but it cannot be too hard - just like a big erector set.

Hokie,

They are already going up, if not completed.  I saw them last Thursday when I was on campus raiding the bookstore.  :)

BB16 - your post has now officially put me in "Bell" mode.  I was wondering when it was going to kick in.  Wish Wabash had a webcam at Hollett.  Thanks for the update.

Random:  Did you guys see Lattimore's injury (South Carolina running back) from Saturday!!  OMG - it's on Youtube

There's some good NCAC conversation in the ATN podcast this week...picks up around 26:55.  Worth a listen.

To answer a question posed in the podcast, if Kenyon got to 7-3, it would be the first time Kenyon hit 7 wins since 1984 (head coached that season by Larry Kindbom as it turns out...small world).  Kenyon has never won more than seven games in a season.  A shared championship would also be Kenyon's first since they shared it with OWU in 1989.  A combo platter of the most wins in program history and a conference championship might just make this the greatest season in Kenyon history.  Wild to think about that given where Kenyon was after 2011.

Did not realize that Kenyon's coach was in his first year.  Impressive also.

I thought I heard someone say that this is the same injury Willis McGahee had in the '02 BCS Championship game against OSU.  I don't remember being sick to my stomach after seeing the McGahee replays of the injury.  If that is the case, hopefully Lattimore can come back and have a relatively productive career like McGahee has.
