Mr. Ypsi

As I posted on Pool C, BW doesn't affect the tourney directly (assuming UMU beats them).  Whether or not the regional committee ranks them tomorrow DOES have vital effects for everyone they played AND for everyone who played whoever would have been #10 if they DO get ranked.  Since they have made themselves ineligible, I would hope the committee would drop them from consideration, but I guess we'll find out tomorrow.  (I'm assuming that otherwise, prior to losing to UMU, they'd be a shoe-in for ranking.)

If they somehow beat UMU ... WOW!

at the beginning of the season I thought mt.-bw would be the game of the year. Since the loss too otterbein I now believe bw will just be another on a long list of shutouts for the machine. Can't see BW being a spoiler for the Berg. More then 2 teams for the NCAC might be just a little bit too much to ask for. Of course nobody thought BW would come within one play of beating the raiders last year(4th and goal from the 20 and give up the winning touchdown, ouch), so beware berg. Maybe things might fall the right way for the NCAC after all.

Just was told that BW was put on NCAA probation.  Could this be true?  Hope not.

wow, not on their website or the oac's website yet. I doubt they were a player this year in the playoffs anyway but this could certainly shake up how they play the last two weeks.

That was on the front page of D3football.com if you wanted to check there first. :)

As he should be.  Students get punished, leaders and administrators who screwed up in the first place say "my bad" and keep getting paid.  Accountability NCAA style.

SigmaOne - not getting on you at all but why the secret on how many Bell tickets?  No one knows or no one is saying...?  In year's past, this is always announced typically when the tickets go on sale.  It's not a huge deal but I am just curious because I heard there are less stands - is it due to costs, is it due to the poor season DPU is having, etc.  I wonder how poorly the Dannies will travel?  We know they will leave early  ;D

Hanover has posted a 6-2 record which is pretty interesting and much improved over recent years.  Certainly makes the Wabash win in the opener look faily solid.  Would love to see Hanover knock off Franklin (don't think they will) - HCAC seems way down this year though.

Good to see Scola get D Player of the Week - he seems to be running much better as the season has gone (I mentioned him closing on Florence in the Witt game on a sack) on and probably took some time regarding the ACL.  You saw this last week too blitzing Espo.  Great to see him patrolling the middle of the field.

Let's do some NCAC Previews while the previewing is good:

Hiram (0-5, 0-8) @ Wittenberg (4-1, 7-1) - Ugh. As if the Old Tigers didn't need any other reason to make the Terriers cower in fear, it's senior day at Wittenberg, too. I am guessing Hiram will have 100 total yards, maybe 125. Wittenberg can Priceline the score - they can name it.

Denison (2-3, 2-6) @ DePauw (1-4, 2-6) - The Big Red's offense played pretty well against Wittenberg and they were still in the game late in the third (28-20). But their defense let them down again. The New Tigers got their act together against Wooster on both sides of the ball, though one wonders if that was a stink-out by the wobegon Scots more than a resurgence by DPU. If the dual QB plan by DePauw is working, this could be a shootout. Denison will move the ball and score, so if nothing else it could be entertaining. But Paulus and Fioroni are the difference makers here for the Big Red.

Oberlin (2-3, 3-5) @ Wabash (4-1, 7-1) - The Yeomen can score and move the ball against most teams. Will they against Wabash? Perhaps. Josh Mandel, Robin Witjes and Moses Richardson are good skill players. But this game will be won up front and Wabash is clearly superior. The Yeomen's defense isn't awful, but they haven't faced an offensive team like Wabash yet. It probably will be a long day for Oberlin in Crawfordsville, and another shutout is possible if Wabash can keep Mandel and Witjes under control.

Kenyon (4-1, 5-3) @ Wooster (1-4, 2-6) - Armageddon Game I. The Lords could be one step closer to winning a share of the conference crown by disposing of the Scots, and the way Wooster had been playing there may not be much fight in them. Kenyon did enough on offense and let Allegheny be Allegheny in their win last week. Barnes played a handful of snaps last week against DePauw and may or may not be ready to go. That could be a key in this game. I don't know if Kenyon handles a healthy Barnes.

Ohio Wesleyan (4-1, 7-1) @ Allegheny (3-2, 4-4) - The Bishops proved their a pretty good club against Wabash, even though the game slipped away from them in the fourth quarter. Now, the tough part - recovering after a let down. OWU has so much to play for though: a share of the conference title and a possible "C" bid if they win out. Allegheny's offense is still in the mud room at Wabash, and there's no doubt the Bishops' D will be eager to feast on them. It may be a close one since the Gators can play some defense, but OWU should be one step closer to the shared title after Saturday.

Let that roll around in the mentals for a little bit.

Certainly makes me doubt they can beat Kenyon. Almost have to wonder if they will follow OWU's example and make a change at the end of this season. After 4 years of .500 or worse, you have to think that's on the table, right?

That will never happen. He will not be replaced unless he is ready to move on or retire.

I think most folks felt the same way about Hollway at OWU. Six straight losing seasons later he was gone. There's a limit. I'm just wondering if 4 seasons is it.

Am not trying to be funny.  He is literally "In Like Flint".  It just won't happen.
