If you take a deep dive into Heidelberg's season, they've really left no doubt, and the only questionable result was that they only beat Muskingum 28-14 in the ultimate trap game (between a big win over surging Otterbein and Mt. Union).

Wittenberg struggled to put Wooster and CWRU away, and allowed Denison to hang around until the 4th. OWU's had their struggles too against some mediocre teams. I don't think it's crystal clear as to who the best team is this year between the two. Of course, I think the best team in the NCAC has two head-scratching losses. Sports, you know.

I'd love to see an OWU / Witt game this season. Alas. We do have next year but they'll be different teams, of course.

Maybe they'll both get in and they can play in the first round.  It wouldn't be a regular season rematch after all.

Or even better, Kenyon, OWU, and Witt can all get in.  We can have Kenyon play Witt since there is no rematch there, OWU can hit the CUC lottery and we can have the winners play in round 2.  Let's have the NCAA settle the NCAC's tiebreak on the field.   :)

+1 Wally. Great Idea. Just need to convince the national committee. And win on Saturday of course.

Wally, one point of clarification, the national committee is made up of 2 reps from each of the regional committees. It is, in fact, a 3rd group of people but there is some crossover.

Congrats to these NCAC student-athletes for taking care of business in the classroom:

Maybe just maybe the commitee uses common sense and says Witt is the BEST team in the NCAC and one of the 32 best in D3 and that is the team that should be picked.  Witt has played well in past playoffs as have other NCAC teams (Wabash mostly).  The commitee is doing this samething for Heidelberg as the OAC runner up. Why Not for Witt and the NCAC.

Do we know that Witt is the best team in the league?  I'm not sure we do.

Unfotunately, at this point in the season, we do.  Have to go with Witt until they lose again.  If they lose again.  We will know in a couple days.

I don't think we KNOW for certain, but if I had to stake my life on one NCAC team to beat a quality team from another conference, I'm probably taking Witt. Qualitatively, I'd point out that the common "loss" of Wabash was much more competitive for Witt than it was for OWU. I'd have to look through all of their common opponents, but off the top of my head I feel like Witt GENERALLY has had an easier go of it than OWU.

Kenyon lost by 20 to OWU, and as much as I love the Lords' story this year, there's no way I'm taking them over Witt or OWU in any scenario.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

no matter who represents the ncac they will have displayed much more then the embarrassing display I watched last night in  Athens. It hurts when your team is that poorly coached and the team performs like they don't care, can't learn and just don't want to be there as my bobcats did. Nobody I have watched in d3 needs to be ashamed of the way they have played. That is something I can't say about Ohio last night.

Hey all -- this is a joint announcement from DePauw and Wabash --

Both teams have tickets remaining for the 119th battle for the Bell. We've decided to open ticket booths on both sides of the field Saturday morning.

Ticket booths will open at 11 a.m. on both sides of the field. A limited number of tickets will be available at $15. When they're gone, they're gone. If tickets still remain, the booths will close when the game kicks off, which is set for 1:07.

Please, tell your friends... bring some people who need to see what a great rivalry this is... the forecast looks terrific and we all know that lots of things -- in fact, anything -- can happen at a Monon Bell game.

Thanks! - Ken Owen & Jim Amidon

Kenyon also suffered big losses to two very mediocre teams, Wash U and Bluffton.  No way the Lords are better then Witt or Wabash!

IMO if they slip in via the convulted NCAC tie breaker they are an 8.  This is a team that made ESPN Gameday discussion prior to their game with Earlham (somebody had to win).

If this were a year that the game was in Greencastle, this board would explode because there are tickets left.

Didn't we do that last week?  I thought we did.

Guess people are content to watch at home or wherever.  Mid 60s and sunny...the rest of us will go ahead and tough it out in the elements I guess.  Long sleeves? Short sleeves?  Gonna be a tough call on Saturday AM.

We did.  And we would have done it again.  And another 100 times on top of that.

I can scramble the jets if you want and cause a completely one sided ruckus up in here...I mean totally devoid of reason or perspective.  Should we?   :)
