Congratulations to those fine players named to the All-NCAC team.  Nicely spread out this year with all the successful teams.  Just as a curiosity:  this is the first year since Wabash joined the conference in 2000 that a Wabash receiver has not been named to the team.  Every year but 2003, a receiver has been on the first or second team.  In 2003, a receiver was honorable mention.  And in 2003 Wabash had the first team tight end.  To refresh memories, in chronological order, those receivers were Casper, ('00, '01), Clifton ('02, '04), Bronaugh (HM, '03), Summers '('05), Walker ('05, '06), Russell ('06, '07), Lemond ('08, '09), Chamblee ('09, '11), Horn ('10,'11).  Add Short and Liska to as tight ends to that list, and I think Sorenson might have been an HM.  Quite a run.
The wide receivers this year--Witjes, Layer, Cunningham, Mogilnicki--are a quality group.  Must have been a good discussion to decide among the latter three for first team (?)  Layer, a senior, got the nod--and maybe there were other factors besides his class and besides catches, yards, etc., that the coaches saw.

I hope everyone had safe travels and a great Thanksgiving with family, friends and football.

I'll be tailgating tomorrow so I wanted to get this out today: Go Witt!

Looking at the live stats shows that Dehnke's not playing. Injury?

Looks like Witt was without its top 2 backs, but Hobart is really doing a number on Florence and the Witt offense.

Congrats to Witt on a fine season and taking down the OAC #2 in the playoffs.

We'll see you next year!
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Witt did have a find season.  However, I really thought they would have a better playoff game today.  Too bad.  Like some of the other playoff teams, they are very good, yet just haven't "turned that corner yet" in the playoffs.

Smeds -

Dehnke left the game last week with an injury.  I figured the Witt O would struggle without him, thus 10 points.  Had hoped he could go today.

Man, the Franklin score was 49-3 at half!  Ouch.  Will MH-B meet Mount in the semi's?  I wish they'd meet in the Stagg Bowl.  I don't think anyone else will hang with the Purple Raiders.

Wesley and Linfield are looking pretty solid today. UW-O finally got on track after a bad half. St. Thomas looked vulnerable. I think UMHB could take the Purple Raiders...

Obviously, next week we'll see just how good these teams are and just who is ready for that next level.

Also, pretty low regarding the attendance at the various DIII playoff games.  No game had even 2,000 people and some were outright dismall (mid 800's and one in the mid 700 range), although I guess that is to be expected due to it being the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. ;)  Hopefully, the next round games and beyond will be much better.

There was also some pretty stiff competition in at least some areas - UM/OSU, for example.

Usually it seems dismal only because there aren't any freebies in the playoffs, either.

Good points both of you! :)
