We all have our personal 9/11 story so I won't bore you with mine. However, as the son and brother of firefighters that day was twice as hard. I know a lot of people lost their lives that day but the 343 members of FDNY who died stand out to me the most. They are never forgotten. They answered The Last Alarm.

Raeburn is looking skinny this year!

I believe the term is "fit" or "healthy" or "fighting trim".  As in "we all hope WAF 56 is healthy, fit, and keeps in fighting trim.

Seriously, he has shed some poundage. He looks like he's ready to get a uniform on.

I watched on my work laptop earlier and the screen is too small to have made that out. Good eye.

The new graphics are nice, too.

I am very interested to see how the Wabash offense does this weekend. Though Hanover's defense let the ole Blue Boys walk all over them, they returned a QB with a boatload of experience along with several recievers and a majority of their offensive line. Wabash certainly does not have that luxury at QB. This along with Hanover having a game under their belt makes me question the amount of points Wabash will be able to put on the scoreboard.

Not that I am worried about a loss, I just do not feel to confident that this will be a blow out like Hanover's game last week. Fortunatly I do not see the Panthers scoring much if at all against a stout Little Giants defense. How much longer do we have to wait!

This is an excellent point and a reminder that football is not linear but a game of matchups.  Team A may be "better" than Team B, but if Team B is better suited to take advantage of Team C's weaknesses than Team A, the margins of victory may not be totally aligned with expectations.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Hanover's offense is going to be out-matched so significantly it will hardly matter who is under center for Wabash. The scores are going to come on short fields, turnovers, and special teams. I will be astounded if Wabash runs, say, 30 plays in the first half. Which is all good, but could prove somewhat frustrating if the intention is to hold open tryouts for QB. I don't think we'll learn much.

I have a feeling tomorrow night we're going to be really excited about our defense and be left with only one or two offensive plays that offer anything about anything regarding who our quarterback should be.

Jonathan Valentine named NCAC Defensive Football player of the week. You can listen to his interview here:

BashDad, you are a real Wabash fan.  Throwing 55 on anyone has not been Raeburn's style if he can avoid it.  The LGs will win, but that 21+ on the pick 'ems board is about right , I believe.   A three TD win in the first game v. a team with a game under its belt is OK (regardless what Illinois College, whose players have grown up from two yrs. ago when Wabash saw them, did last week).

I'll be interested to see how this goes tomorrow.  Turn back the clock one year and Wabash was breaking in four new OLs, had some new WRs to work in, Belton had a bad back that week if memory serves...Wabash couldn't run, they took a lot of penalties (typical first game stuff), and they managed to win by 3 TDs.  To be fair, it was a 7-point game for a brief minute in the fourth quarter, but Wabash answered right after, then had a pick six (one of 4 INTs in the game) and the thing was done at that point.

So this year, Wabash basically has all the pieces in place except quarterback.  There will be some fresh blood in the middle of the defensive line, but Wabash is experienced everywhere else.  I do think Hanover will find it tough to move against this defense and how much the defense sets up the offense in the scoring zone will be seen.  I do wonder, if ER is using this game as a tryout for his quarterback position, how much you toss decorum out the window in the last 15 minutes and keep the foot on the gas...after all, you want to see these quarterbacks make plays.  Just thinking out loud here, but I think ideally you want to have this thing figured out in the next two weeks, let your guy get a full game in on the Wooster trip and be ready for 4 full quarters on 10/12 against OWU.

Can't wait to watch this play out tomorrow.  Any guesses on how it goes?  Rotating series?  Rotating quarters?
