Sucks to lose Homes... Probably a 1,500 year in him this year.  But a pretty friendly Mefical redshirt is there if he chooses.  As an education major, I guess next year is pretty cheap... Still would rather have him out there this year.... Wish him the best.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

I believe a little scat back would compliment the Wabash offense in a big way. Is there any candidates? I do believe that Stella will be a force to be reckoned with once he learns the position a bit more.

Ya, he was coming back for a semester to student teach next year anyways. Still sucks though.
What I lack in size, I make up for with my lack of speed.

Sad to just read about Holmes. Hopefully he can use his medical year while he's student teaching.

At CWU we lost a player today who was on his 6th year - redshirted one year then blew out his ankle last year and took a hardship medical redshirt. Now, in game three of his 6th year, he's lost. That's football.

The points for / against for Allegheny and DPU remind me of the 'good ol' days of Oberlin and Hiram.

I went to the OWU-Kenyon game today and as a unbiased observer I hate to say it but I am not impressed Bishops. The secondary had a very bad day. How many times were you beat deep? Sloppy on offense also. A lot of dropped throws. A win is a win but you are going to have to play a lot better against the best of the ncac. Good luck the rest of the way.

OWU does have spots to work on.....I'd have to chalk this game up as just as you stated. "a win is a win"...
The Lords have always played OWU tough, but maybe going into Gambier, the Bishops may have been
looking a head....GO BISHOPS

Some Wabash/Denison thoughts:

MacDougall missed two PATs today which will be a sore spot, but all in all it was a good day for the special teams.

Sore spot is an understatement.  MacDougall deserves a new nickname - Nuke, the million dollar leg with 10 cent head.  His extra points and kick-offs were all over the place.  The only thing missing from Bull Durham was kicking a ball and knocking over Wally Wabash.  While not material in yesterday's game, the kicking situation is going to bite the team down the road.  If he is choking in a blowout to Denison, it is not an indication that things have changed since last year.

Terrible news about Holmes - senior and team captain on a team full of promise.  Zurek is a great kid and will now have the opportunity to show what he can do. Next man up.

That's nice that Wabash allows student teachers to participate in athletics. North Central does not. My son had to get a waiver approved so he could coach while he is student teaching.

Student teachers at Wabash are enrolled in their  s-t assignment as an academic course.  Many students who plan to teach do it in their 9th semester.  They may also be enrolled in other courses as well depending upon when they decided to teach. I'm sure other schools do it different ways.  The NCAA mandates that an athlete in the sport's season be enrolled--and so is really a student.  If it is the last semester leading to the student's completing all minimum requirements for a degree, s/he can be enrolled in just one course.  Many athletes wanting to take advantage of the NCAA's rule arrange their course load so that they will have a course in which to enroll.  In all previous semesters the student-athlete must be enrolled in at least the mininum number of courses that the school says are necessary to be considered a "full-time" student by the school's definition of that term.  And if they are enrolled in the minimum at the beginning of a term, they cannot drop below that minimum during the term (i.e. "drop a course").  I call this "final term" rule the the NCAA's Matt Leinert (sp ?) rule.  During his last football season at Southern Cal he was enrolled in only a single course for credit--Ballroom Dancing.
So, if he wants, Holmes could student-teach and play football.  He would be enrolled in one course to finish his degree.

So are North Central's. They also have a survey course they take with s-t. The school has their own rule that noone can work or participate in athletics while they s-t.

Random but how sick are Sobleski's punting stats for Wabash?  11 punts, 5 over 50 yards, 6 inside the 20, and averaging just under 44 yards per punt!  He's a weapon for sure and I cannot recall a guy this good.

I thought the comments on Ian MacDougall's kicking were pretty harsh.  His kick offs have been very strong and he's been good on his field goals.  I do agree we cannot miss Xtra points!

The Holmes injury is a blow but I like Zurek, CP Porter, and Stella (could be huge!)

BB 16 - Only call it like I see it.  By my count, seven or eight kickoffs - one out of bounds, one pop up, one grounder and then several deep in the end zone.  The man has a strong leg.   Missed two extra points and he started changing his motion for each PAT after his first miss. His first PAT (into the wind) was great - hell, he hit the Allen Center on the fly. Why change?  If he has to hit them all like 50 yarders, so be it.  PATs should not be adventures.  The comments may be harsh but this guy had the same problem last year and it does not appear to have been rectified. Here's hoping that he gets it worked out.

That's an interesting rule at NCC.  I can see how they can defend it.  Wonder how many other schools have a similar rule.  I could argue either way depending on how the student-teaching is set up.
