After 228 yards and 2 TDs Zurek must have looked like this guy to the Scots.

You're on fire today.

Good win for Wabash today.  I don't know if it was as crisp as it has been...there were some turnovers, some penalties that wiped out big plays.  If there is a way to have a sloppy 48-14 win, today was it.  But I'll take this result on the back end of two long road trips.

Zurek was a hoss today.  The defense hounded Barnes all day...I think I only saw him step into a throw about 4 times.  The rest was on the run or otherwise under duress.  Special teams were strong...Ian perfect on all 8 of his kicks today and Sobleski got to hammer a couple of punts (think there was a 60 yarder in there).

Oh, and Houston got to play some D today.  Picked a pass off and made a couple of nice tackles.

Next up is a monster game back in C'ville against Ohio Wesleyan.  It will be another strong test for the defense.

Sklenar just hit his 4th TD pass of the game.  He has 2 more rushing TDs and Denison leads DPU 42-21 late in the 4th.

They have freshman QB in Hunt playing - why not?  May as well start the rebuilding now- gonna take a while for Lynch this time around.

On those long runs Zurek reminds me of the old Darrell Royal quote: "He looks like a grizzly bear haulin' a walnut"

Glad to see my fellow Niner doing well!

Nate Scola's #'s today were sick!  3 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, and the 65 yard scoop and score!  Great to see him leading this D.  #42 deserves a shout out today.  Nice work!

Big Tre Taylor 6'2 315 missed today for a funeral so it will be great to get him back next week on the O-line.

Sobleski is a weapon!  Wow.  Also, are you guys still questioning MacDougall's kicking?  He has a huge leg and is perfect on the season on field goals while booming his kick offs.

We gave up more yards then I wanted too today but they definitely struggled getting anything going all day.

The Wooster game was actually a great initial test for this Wabash defense and a great warm-up for next week.   They ran some very nice inside running plays and moved the ball well.    I do hope that we tighten up the flats a bit next week.

But, in my opinion,  it was the best offense we have seen this year by quite a ways.   We easily could have hung 60 on them today,  but I will certainly take coming out of two long road trips the way we did.

I like that they brought Houston back onto defense today.   Gives him some reps.

Question:   Will Depauw win a game this year?  Oberlin, Hiram & Gheny are their shots at victory.  I think they beat Gheny, Lose to Oberlin and Hiram is a toss up.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Regarding MacDougal - gladly eating crow :)

Only saw second half.  The passing game looked poor but not many plays to judge.   Was passing sharper in 1st half?

Back in July I said this about Depauw being forecasted for 4-5 wins:

QuoteI assume the 4 wins are @Sewanee, @Kenyon, Oberlin, and @Hiram. The maybe 5th win is @Denison, where the Big Red went 1-4 last season

I was wrong about Sewanee, Kenyon, and Denison. At this point I'm not sure about either Oberlin or Hiram. If you're Depauw wanting to avoid an 0-fer-the-season you have to hope you're not as putrid as Gheny.

Hokie,

Thanks.  ;). He's solid for sure.

The Dannie's will beat Gheny.  I can't believe how far Gheny has fallen.  Man.  Yuck.

I'd agree that the offense, in the first half, looked pretty darn good. I mean, they put up 38 points in a half where--for this first time all year--the D didn't help them out with scores. But. Damn if Putko's dumb decisions aren't piling up. I wouldn't mind seeing what Rice could do. Grumble grumble.

We were in over our heads.
I think your defense is much better than I even thought.  Barnes was chased out of his game. Forget the yardage. Wabash defense will keep you undefeated this year. Offense is nice but I look for about this same score next week with OWU.

Wabash-Wooster: yes, I think you can talk about Zurek a bit now.

Denison is looking more and more like the 3rd/4th best team in the league.  But DPU will definitely win at least one game - Allegheny is FAR worse than DePauw.  The New Tigers are generally competitive in their losses.  Gheny was down 44-0 at halftime today.  Nice to see OWU come out firing, though, wonder if they might yet push Wabash or Witt (at least in one game).

Kenyon beats Oberlin in what looks like a competitive game, no box score posted yet to review.  Bummer for the Yeomen, I thought they'd have a shot in this one.  On the flip side, Kenyon is showing enough this year to convince us that last year was not a one year wonder.

Witt-Hiram about as expected.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Well gents, here we go.  Nervous and Gassy week is finally here.  Haven't done the NCAC pick 'em in quite some time but I would have to say that (-24.5 Wabash) is a fair line for this one.  Really hope these OWU seniors can have a signature win for their careers and no better team to have it against that this Little Giants team in Crawfordsville.

Between the weather and officiating I thought the LG's played pretty good. Yes Wooster racked up a few yards but I think the defensive strategy was focused on not giving up the big play as the safeties were playing a little more off the line of scrimmage than in past games but that is just a guess. We might see Sobleski at the next level, man can that kid boot some bombs!!!
