Sorry, Wabash.  thought you guys were in.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I'm going to go out on the proverbial limb here.  Someone can saw it off.  1. I understand that the margin of decision this year was razor thin.  2.  I understand that a lot of people, even some Wabash fans, will say that the SJF strength of schedule gave them an edge even though they are a two-loss team  3. I understand that a lot of people will say that if Wabash had beaten Wittenberg, they would not have placed themselves in the position they were in (true)  4.  I understand that there is no way to prove what I am about to say  5. I understand that I am paranoid:  Wabash will never get a break in close decisions because Wabash is an all-male college in an era of biases against whatever people think that represents.  Period.  End of sentence.  Saw off the limb.

No saw in my hand.

I don't think they'll be 3 "B" teams when the teams move up. There will be two additional "A" teams by 2015 (the SAA and the new conference that Framingham is in) but that should take away two "B" bids and then the only "B" teams will be the old SCAC, Wesley and Macalester (and maybe a couple other rogue teams in transition).

Five "C" bids will probably be the norm, unless there's another conference retooling or the NESCAC decides it wants to play ball, as it were.

Chainsaw is in hand and fired up!

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Witt at Mount in Round 2 should be a good game.

If that were the case, then H-SC would also face that issue. I don't see evidence of that.

Also, if the committee handled the "B" schools differently and chose Millsaps over Wash U. maybe then that would have merit. But this was a committee that weighed SOS very heavily when all was said and done.

Just looked at WashU's schedule...  Are you kidding me?  Gross scores too and a loss to 7-3 Coe.

I feel really bad for the Wabash seniors.  We would have been a tough out.  Seniors finish 37-6 and 4 Monon Bells.

Not a surprise.  Wabash should have shown up for the game last weekend.

I might take in that Franklin game.

Wash U is in Pool B - not C. They wouldn't have made the board in "C". We were nosed out by St. John's Fisher. Can't compare pool B and C. The team that has a case against Wash U is Millsaps.

Wash U. got in with a SOS ranked 14th. Almost beat UW-Whitewater. Centre and Rhodes were good clubs. Heck I thought Rhodes had a shot at a "B". Also, when they played Coe - Coe was expected to roll in the IIAC.

Wabash didn't have any wins and only one result over Regional Ranked opponents. I am guessing SJF had two wins and three results. I bet Wash U had a RR win and two results since Rhodes probably was ranked by the South.

I am not saying that the committee sat around and said that we won't put Wabash in because it's all male.  This is nothing against a fine SLF team.    I am saying that there are subtleties involved in these decisions and that I have seen this kind of thing before.  Smed, I don't know from jack about H-SC and whether there have been those razor-thin decisions that affect them negatively.  Everyone who reads this will know that I have tried to be balanced whenever possilbe while remaining a serious Wabash fan.  This is just what I think.  Agree or not, that's fine.  I know this will rub some of you the wrong way.  No evidence exists, but let's just say I've been in a lot of conversations where that microbias exists (is very likely unconsicious--not always, and is unrecognized). I'll get off this topic now that I've vented. Respond how you will, chain saws, and all.   I'm finished.

Sigma,

I thought it was just in academia, like US News Rankings!   ;)

Didn't mean to rankle you. I'm disappointed as well, but seeing the East implosion yesterday which caused SJF to look better and perhaps added more RR wins in their belt AND seeing how good their SOS turned out to be, by bedtime last night I was resigned to the fate. But I think it was a criteria issue more than anything.

HSC got a C bid a few years ago and was given a home game. I think you are imagining things. Wabash played one top notch school all year and they got beat pretty soundly in that game. It's tough to hang your head on a bunch of non-regionally ranked wins and a big loss to the only one you faced.

Tough way to end the season waiting on a wing and a prayer.  I cannot remember two teams from our conference getting in recently, although I am sure it has happened.
Next year hope springs eternal.  Witt's quarterback is a senior, right?
