Wally or anyone else that attended---

Good write up, thanks!

Some of my questions:

- what about personnel - who started on the O front and were they good size?
- who was our punter?
- who are the wideouts?
- was our D front big?
- who else stood out?

Thanks.

Hello all again! Hiram got a win over Hanover in the game simulation scrimmage today. Good to see! The offense looked great but the defense struggled a bit. Look for the Terriers to put up some points this year at least! Very pleased with what I saw.

Hiram College wins the inter-collegiate basketball world championship at the World's Fair Universal Exposition Olympic Games in St. Louis, Missouri. Final score: Hiram, 25; Latter Day Saints University, 18.

While I firmly believe defense wins, at least having a good offense will make Hiram entertaining!

I'd really like to see them get near .500...

Anything can happen.  NPU hadn't won a CCIW game since approximately the Lincoln administration, but won three last season.

Next Saturday is shaping up nicely.  Gentlemen's Classic at 1:00, which will put me back home just in time for Oregon/MSU at 5:30.  And half of our NCAC action is taking place under the lights on Saturday, so the lapper will get a good workout in the evening.  So. Much. Football.  I wouldn't have it any other way.

We almost decided to go to the Michigan State alumni gathering next weekend (since KP is an MSU alum), alas, not in the budget since the tailgate for MSU costs $$ and there was no way we could get tickets affordably in the MSU section.

Thank goodness for Wabash video though. Eggs, bacon, and the Little Giants on tap!

Glad the UTSA game is on Thursday night. I won't have to watch the Wabash game on a laptop at the tailgate now. Can watch at home with breakfast tacos.

Some of you will recall that several weeks ago I posted about former Wabash kicker Ian MacDougall's attempt to join the Purdue University football team.  Ian began at Wabash as a freshman as the starting goalie on the soccer team, then switched to football and kicked for three years.  Last year he scored exactly 100 points, going 15-17 on FGs.  He graduated from Wabash in May.
Ian had a year of football eligibility remaining.  He decided to enroll as a graduate student in sports administration at Purdue, and he contacted the Boilers coaches about trying out for the team.  After a close battle for placekicking duties in fall camp, Ian has become the designated kickoff specialist.   Against Western Michigan last weekend Ian kicked off nine times; seven of those kicks were touchbacks.
Last night, WLFI TV out of Lafayette/West Lafayette featured Ian in its segment on Purdue football.  Over several minutes, they told Ian's story and showed clips of him kicking for both Wabash and Purdue, including a short view of his FG  v. DePauw last November.  They also interviewed Ian on camera, and he told some of the story about himself.   Some Little Giant.
     Good on ya, Ian.

After the kickoff, Wheaton went three and out punctuated by a "sack" of the quarterback.  One play later Mason Zurek went 55 yards around the edge for a TD.  Kickoff, first snap, handoff and a forced fumble.

...

Holmes and Zurek each played basically one series and they looked fine.  Holmes didn't score, but he was getting his chunks on that first drive before Zurek closed it out and then had his big play.  Good to see both of those big guys back out there and running hard and running well.  After those two, Shamir Johnson got quite a bit of run at RB and looked pretty good there, so there is still good depth at that position.

Mason Zurek and Shamir Johnson both Andrean (Merrillville) products.....would love for Wabash to land the current senior RB at Andrean, Trevor Berg. Kid is a stud. Punishing runner with deceptive speed.

Looking over rosters at the schools.  Is Cameron Belton not at Wabash any more?

Interesting observation, Nike.  Went back and compared the pre-camp QB numbers (6 or 7 inc. four rhynies) versus the current roster with 3.  Any input from those nearer C'ville - injuries or just anticipated attrition due to lack of PT?

Hard to say for sure.  I know that only one guy can play quarterback at a time, which probably makes it tough for competitive guys who want to play to have the patience to grind it out for 2-3 years trying to win a backup job.

Belton is no longer enrolled at Wabash.

Does anyone have word on progression for Allegheny? It was confusing seeing a school like Allegheny drop all of its games last year. Hopefully they turn things around as the conference is typically better off when theyre at their best.

Also, pardon my ignorance, but who will be replacing Espinosa this year at OWU; will it still be a past first offense??
