Pat Coleman

I went to our 1999 standings page and pulled out 201 schools, which means 191 were non-NESCAC. I scanned the list and didn't see anyone that I remembered to be transitioning into D-III at the time.

The other question, Pat, was how the number of schools in the tournament was determined? Was it a percentage of total schools in the sport?

WOW! You go HCAlum86! I don't think that will happen, but, I like the way you think. :)

After watching the replay of HSC vs Wabash looked to me like Putko's hard work in the gym over the summer paid off as he shrugged off would be tackles that would have been sacks and ran for some positive yards. As the game progressed so did Putko's confidence, and by the end of the game he was dripping confidence throwing the ball. As far as the defense goes some of those hits they delivered to Nance looked pretty painful not to mention Nance spending most of the game running for his life.  With Holmes and Zurek back and a defense that's nasty and fast as ever, I believe this year could be special for the Little Giants. Hopefully they keep that train of pain rolling down the track.

Go Bash!

leaving for what should be a interesting doubleheader. Couldn't make it to Urbana-Notre Dame game like I wanted so I am going to Oberlin-Kenyon game instead followed by Denison-Hiram.

-- I'm on HSC/CNU.  Not so good so far. HSC has missed a field goal, slipped down on the 1 yard line fielding a kickoff, and thrown a pick. Need these Tigers to get their business together and start playing good football. 6-0 Captains after 1Q.  \
Update: HSC scored pretty quickly after the original post.  Tigers up 7-6 and they have the ball back, so things have turned around in VA.
Update: It's 28-28 in the 3rd.  For about every third really good throw Nance makes, he makes one of the worst throws you'll ever see.  It doesn't make sense.  Also, I can't understand what Hampden-Sydney has against tucking their jerseys in.  Strange.
Update: After a bad snap made HSC take a safety, the Tigers defend a 4th and 10 at their own 13 to preserve a 35-30 win.  That team makes a lot of mistakes.  They'll need to clean that up if they are going to run through the ODAC.

-- I was going to tune in for the first few minutes of the UWW/Franklin game, but they apparently can't handle the demand for that vid stream.  Good effort, Grizzlies.
Update: 13-7 Grizz after 1. WHAT.
Update: Warhawks have taken full control in the second half.  42-13 in the 4th.

-- Oberlin is having their way with Kenyon on Kenyon's Homecoming.  30-7 Yeomen in the 3rd.
Update: It's all over in Gambier.  Oberlin kneecaps Kenyon 47-28.

Great choice my friend. Let's Go Terriers!

The Dawgs strike first.  Hiram forced Sklenar to fumble on a blind side sack and took advantage of the field position to get a score.  Hiram actually scored by recovering their own fumble in the end zone.  7-0 Terriers early on in the 1st.

Hiram intercepts Sklenar on the next series and that turns into a field goal.  10-0 Terriers.  Fun to watch this team play with confidence.

86 yard TD Partridge to Britton.  Holy moly.  It's 16-0. Hiram just had to burn a timeout because nobody went out to kick an extra point.  WATI.  Apparently we're all confused.  They ruled Britton out at the 2.  No TD yet.  There it is.  Short TD pass now from Partridge.  Now it's 17-0 right at the end of the 1st quarter.

Another Denison fumble.  This time Morris put it on the ground.  Hiram back in business in DU territory.

8:42 left in the half- Hiram 24, Denison 0.  This game is every bit as lopsided as the score indicates.  Hiram dominating both sides of the ball.

Denison managed to finally score, but Hiram blocked the point after.  24-6. Terriers will have a little over two minutes to try and tack on before halftime.

Partridge just scored on a 26 yard run.  That kid is real good.  He made a sweet throw to set up the score as well on that drive.  31-6 Terriers.

Alright, Sklenar has put the Big Red on his back and he's trying to get Denison back into this thing.  DU just forced a punt and they have the ball back trailing Hiram 31-19 with something like 13:00 left in the game.

Oh, excellent play action post pass by Hiram.  65 yards to the house.  The PAT is no good 37-19 Hiram with 10:45 to go.  That was a big answer for the Terriers as Denison had taken all of the momentum in the game.  Now it's a three score game again and DU can't make any more mistakes.

Things are getting interesting.  DU scored to get within 37-26, recovered an onsides kick, quickly got into a goal to go situation and then Sklenar was intercepted again- Denison's EIGHTH turnover in the game.  We're under 5 minutes to play, and Hiram is now working the clock.  I think barring a Hiram turnover here in the next play or two, Denison is out of time to get two scores.

They're confused - they've never led by 17 points before.

Seriously, this is awesome. Hope they finish the job. Hiram at 2-0 would be awesome to see.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Who let the dogs out?! Last I saw it was 31-6 Hiram.

Alright, this thing is done after a couple of knees.  Hiram is going to beat Denison 37-26.  That's Hiram's first victory over Denison ever.  The Terriers forced eight turnovers including six intercepts of Sklenar.  Partridge, Britton Lewis, and freshman running back Danny Robinson (14-145 tonight) are a really nice set of skill players on that offense.  Congrats to Hiram!

I tried to tell you boys! Great Game! It was a sloppy second half but the Terriers got the win nonetheless. And that's all that matters!
