James A. Garfield, former Principal of the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute (later Hiram College), is elected 20th president of the United States by fewer than 10,000 popular votes. In the electoral college, however, there was no contest. Garfield garnered 369 votes over his opponent, Democrat General Winfield Scott Hancock, who only received 155 votes.

Our conference has some pretty cool history if I may say so myself.

Garfield as the story goes could write in Latin with one hand, Greek in the other , while speaking in English. If Partridge can demonstrate some of the same who knows what might happen this weekend.

I will be interested to see the size of the travel team that goes to Hiram this weekend.  It seemed like there was at least a third bus of players for the Kenyon trip.  ER has definately made an effort to get as many players as possible signifigant playing time in these recent contests against the opponent's first team while they are still fresh. Hopefully this has saved starters from a few injuries while building depth and experience.

We're missing a key, and particularly timely, event here....it's Ye Olde Skull week.  Which is awesome.  It'd be more awesome if photos existed of OWU possessing the Skull so, you know, fix that Bishops.

Is there an NCAA restriction on the size of a DIII football travelling squad or is it up the school?  I thought the limit was 56 players in uniform but I don't how or why that number came to mind.  Maybe I am thinking of playoff travel restrictions.

No matter how many travel, I hope they pack their longjohns.  It is going to be cold (high of 41)and windy (18 mph) and 60% chance of showers - an all-around miserable forecast.  The weather may impact the Partridge passing game - we will see.

Roster limits are for the playoffs (because that's on the NCAA's dime).  I think during the regular season it comes down to whatever each school wants to pay for or whatever conference restrictions might exist.

So far as I know, the NCAA has no limit for regular season games, only for playoffs.  I believe it is up to the school for regular season games unless there are conference stipulations.

Our conference (UAA) had a dress limit of 55 players for conference games.  Home teams could dress the full roster.  For non-conference games (which we played a lot of, being in a small conference) we typically took as many as we could fit on two buses for local games that did not require overnight stays (I think this usually ended up being about 65 guys), but I think we stuck to 55 for any trips that required a flight (only a few of those).

The NCAA-regulated playoff travel roster was 52 players when I was playing, I think (if not 52, it was in that ballpark) plus 20 sideline personnel.  Not sure if it is the same today, but I think it is.

One man's experience.  But I'm pretty sure there is no NCAA limit for D3 schools in regular season games.  Conferences set their own rules.  Not sure, honestly, how much this varies by conference.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Looking forward to seeing how the Hiram passing game fairs against Wabash's D.  Cody Buresh is two sacks away from the all-time sack record.  Partridge better have a quick release or the record may fall this weekend.

Sounds like a good day to hand it off to Big Dog Holmes or The Train of Pain Zurek and grind it out.

Some facts from the media guide.  Hiram last scored against the Little Giants in 2002, a 54-7 Wabash victory.  Hiram has failed to get in the scoreboard in the previous 4 matchups.  I do however predict that Hiram will be getting on the board this year.
Total combined score for the 7-0 series is 410-33.

I am really looking for Hiram to equal the aggregate. Solid prediction: Hiram rolls 377-0

I noticed Klembara, that seemed get dinged and helped off last week, is not showing on the two-deep... I hope he makes it back to the field soon..
