Well, it was hard to tell if Whitewater looked extremely beatable or just took their foot off of the gas a little bit against Macalaster. Nonetheless, it will be an exciting matchup next week!

Wheaton also has not impressed me thus far against Benedictine.

And it seems as if most of our scorelines are close to on point as far as Wabash/Franklin!

Both, UWW only had starters in for the first series or two of the second half, backups are in now and they're not returning punts either. UWW always calls off the dogs a lot earlier then other teams.

Thanks for the insight! I figured as much.

Wabash is also a great team and should have a chance though too, as it has been noted, UWW has been having some offensive hiccups the last 4 weeks with Kumerow gone. I imagine he'll play next week though, and if he is 100% I don't think UWW loses, but there's always a chance. Wabash has a really good defense and anything can always happen.

UMHB and TLU aren't going to restart until 630 or 700? That's a 5 plus hour lightning delay. That has to be tough on the players.

So what do you do during a 5+ hour delay? That has to suck - especially for the visiting team that still has the return trip.

I saw on Twitter that they were getting the teams some food. So they resume at 630 or 700, play until what? 9 pm or so. Then TLU has to clean up and go back the 120 miles or so from Belton to Seguin. The kids from TLU are going to have a seriously long day.

Yeah getting comfortable in a locker room filled with anxious players with pads on cannot be easy. Especially given the fine line between trying to keep yourself relaxed and falling asleep / trying to stay excited and wearing yourself out.

Eight INT's for Jenkins, tying the NCAA record, also set today by St. Scholastica's QB.
there was a joke going round w&j let witt recover the onside kick so they could get that 8th interception.

I know the broadcast crew mentioned several times how seldom Zurek/Holmes were getting the ball. Those two combined for 22 carries today. They combined for 33 against DePauw and 40 against Witt. 5 of those 22 carries were on that last scoring drive.

How much of the offensive struggle was from not handing off to our two All-NCAC RBs as often as we usually do?

That last drive was encouraging - all Holmes, great push from O line, Franklin looked gassed at that point.  That is what you want to see in the 4th quarter.  Build on that for next Saturday.

I just don't think the score sheet was all that reflective of how the game was. Two 4th Quarter touchdowns put it out of reach against a 6-4 squad

Really great day at the Hollett for the Wabash Little Giants.  Game thoughts...

- I don't know what Mike Leonard does but his first series are usually great.  Whatever he had scripted for that first series were some things that Wabash either hadn't seen or weren't ready for.  He does that- they drove the field and scored first against UWW also.

- After the first series though, things got pretty rough for that Franklin offense.  Wabash forced them into playing long fields all day, and while there was some yardage available, it was pretty apparent pretty soon that Franklin wasn't going to be able to go 70-80 yards more than a couple of times in the game.

- Major respect for Grant Welp.  Wabash came at him and hit him pretty relentlessly all day.  Welp made several really, really good throws under pressure.  Fantastic player.  And tough.  That wasn't an easy game for him.

- Also have to give some respect to that Franklin defense.  I know they ended up giving up 33 points today, but it wasn't an easy 33 for Wabash.  The Grizzly defense held Wabash to just one first half touchdown in the first half and kept the Grizzlies in the game well into the second half.  That unit exceeded expectations today from my vantage point.

- Zurek is a beast.  That is all.

- Holmes had a tremendous second half.  Wabash offensive football isn't always sexy, but when that group gets rolling they can really take the wind out of a defense's sails.

- My favorite sequence of the game was probably the Austin Brown INT which immediately turned into Wabash running Holmes over and over at warp speed.  The drive ended with Putko running in for the score, but that's the sequence that I think tilted the game in Wabash's favor for good.

- Special snaps for Houston Hodges.  Houston hasn't played a down of defensive back all year and this week he gets tossed out on the corner to play against Franklin.  Good luck, kid.  He answered the call.  Houston had a good game out there on defense today- 7 solo tackles.

And now Wabash gets #1.  Steel yourself, gentlemen.  It's going to be a fun week.

28-0 in the 2nd quarter is in reach? You obviously didn't watch the game.
