Okay since some of us are Debbie Downers.... guaranteeing no injury throughout the course of the season other than the usual soreness and fatigue (which i miss) what would you pay?

Okay, I realize this is all fun speculation and "what if".  Nonetheless, the answers you may get in reply will obviously vary among individuals based on their experience, I'm sure.  As for my situation, I would have to say I wouldn't for "just one more season" because I was very fortunate to go out on top my senior year the way we all dream of in regards to having a personal best season and honors.  I wouldn't want to take the chance of ruining that. However, that's the selfish reason; the unselfish regret is that we did not win the league title, being runner-up the second years in a row.  No doubt there are others who would like one more shot due to their experience and I understand that, have no problem with it.

I would pay giant sums of money to re-play certain downs. I would pay zero dollars to play again.

Honestly, after that Andre Johnson hit I'm kinda like nah, I'm good.

Because life.

Also, can we all come together as a people and agree to a 365 day limit, post-graduation, of a personal twitter avatar being a football photo? Can we shake hands on that one?

Because life.

Agree 100% here.  There are days that I have problems with the hits I absorbed.  Formerd3db was there in the aftermath from the last hit I ever took and it wasn't pretty.  That was 15 years ago - the kids have definitely gotten bigger and faster than even 15 years ago.  My last concussion was a Grade 3 with a slight tremor (seizure) when they woke me up on the field.  I've had multiple shoulder operations, a knee operation and staring down back surgery now - all as a result of the hits.  As a QB (not nearly as good as BashDad) there were weeks I couldn't practice until Thursday.  In 1998, there were two of who started the 10 games - each had two concussions and separated (throwing) shoulders.  Mine was a second degree subluxation and his was a 3rd degree.  With the #3 guy not being an option at all - we took the cortisone and stuff to play.  Worse yet - I literally don't remember the 2nd half at Osh Kosh in 1998.  Watching the film was like watching a game on TV for that one.

Would I trade the experiences with my BOYS out there?? No way - and locker room was a great place for all of us to hang also.. Would I pay to go back and play today?  No way.

HC Alum - I guess it just depends on how banged up you were.  After not getting hit in practice all week - Mondays were the absolute worst.  Sunday was bad, but at least I still had alcohol in me.

I wasn't that good. Easy schedule. Certainly no Logan Schrader.

Excellent posts BashDad and SaintsFAN.  I agree with both of you.  (I'd give you both +k, but have to wait for the time deadline since I already did so for other previous comments ;D) .  My college career ended a quarter early as I was knocked out of the last game of the season of my senior year late 3rd quarter with a thigh injury on a crack-back block from a Kalamazoo receiver.  Luckily, however, I have not had any residual effects from that and was even luckier in not having any major injuries throughout my college playing career.  Yes, I, too would like to go back and replay some plays and would pay for that, but, otherwise, as you both have said..."no way". :)

Actually, this night be my favorite answer yet. Replaying a game or two from the past, I'd be happy to go back and do. But not the entire process of a season all over again. Just teleport me together day in my 17-21 year old body.  Maybe just keep me there, actually.

An eight team playoff is certainly better than the 4 and, again, I wish they would have done it that way this year and they really should have.  Two subjective with 4 teams and I think that was borne out by the comments of one of the committee members, although I think that getting Ohio State in was a decent decision.  If you are going to go on caliber of play of recent as he said, by those standards then Baylor and TCU should be in there with Alabama and Ohio State and Florida State should have been left out.  However, we all know the latter was not going to happen because of the Winston hype and the potential for battle between two QBs.

I actually heard a great point about this today (forget who said it now so forgive me for not giving appropriate attribution), but the 4-team playoff put together by the Power 5 was a bad idea from the start.  Not the idea of the playoff because I think we all agree that the tournament is awesome, but the idea that they guaranteed one of those five leagues to be chopped out of the dollars.  The Big 12 is not getting $6 million this year because they don't have a team in the tournament.  Now, in the economics of big time college football, $6 million isn't a ton, but it's still $6 million that somebody isn't getting and you've seen the tantrums being thrown by Bowlsby and Briles over the last couple of days.  Those are $6 million tantrums.

The Big 12 can add a couple of teams and have a title game (or basically force the NCAA to let them have a title game with 10 teams...I don't think the NCAA would put up a huge fight on that given the concessions being made to the Power 5 leagues throughout the latter half of this year) but that doesn't solve the problem that one of those leagues isn't getting part of this payout.  That's going to change soon with an expanded field.  I'd say we have an 8 team tournament in FBS by the 2017 season.

I think I want to revise my answer after seeing these posts.  Laying awake in a pool of sweat with 4 fans blowing on me on the 3rd floor of my brick dorm, counting down the minutes to the 7:00 a.m. film session before another day of 3-a-days started in the Ohio August heat is something I'm not sure I would do over.

I was thinking along these lines from my days playing soccer. Those August practices, conditioning in the morning, skills and small sides in the afternoon, ball drills in the evening. I just don't have the desire to do it again. Of course, I didn't make it as a college athlete either, so I guess I didn't even have the desire then!

The_Bishop, jknezek, ETP-all great points!  I would not want to go through those aspects again either!  (like you, I remember laying on the bed in the dorm after lunch before the afternoon practices, fans on because it was so hot (and no A.C. in the dorm), all muscles aching and dead tired, trying to rest as long as possible but dreading the seconds ticking away before I had to drag myself up and off to the locker room.  Uuggghh! :P ::) ;D

Wally RE:  the playoffs/your further comments...agree entirely. Great points!

Was air conditioning even invented yet?

You sure know how to make a guy feel really old. :( ;) (Can I take the +k away that I recently gave you? ??? ;D   I will say that I held my own with the young guys in the alumni lacrosse game not too long ago...kind of surprised them in keeping up and giving out a couple of great hits that blasted a couple of them-legal hits, of course! ;D

In defense of former, be it noted that I am a generation older than him and in my childhood a big come-on of movie theaters and diners was "Cool Inside" - and some of the signs were already old and worn even then! ;)

But, yeah, my dorm was still not air conditioned! :(

Thanks Ypsi!  Us older, "experienced" guys might just have a little something over these young energetic guys! ;D :o ::) ;)
