Don't get your bowels so upset.  To respond to the Wabash run over the Dannies , the best game was the first when the Dannies brought their undefeated and self proclaimed "Best Team EVER" to Wabash and were handed a 47-0 whipping.  Now that was a fun game.  Dannies heading for the exits in the third quarter.  I have one of the 47-0 shirts.  HSC Tiger fan ... I will have it on as it was a win against a ("the") "best ever" Tiger team and hopefully will be good karma.  Wabash does travel well and I am sure we will have a large contingent at HS for the game.  There is a tailgate for Wabash fans near the basketball venue.  Come on over.  You will be well received.  (Wabash fans have only two teams who are generally not welcome ... DePauw - absolutely and Wittenberg - sometimes if they are not on their best behavior).  I will have my 47-0 Tiger whipping karma shirt on.  Come on over.  I know the other Wabash posters here and know they feel the same way.  Would love to learn more of the HSC lore over a brew or two. The HSC fans last year who trekked to Wabash (not very many in number) were good folk.

By the way ... Wabash WILL WIN !  Wabash is the real deal.  We have earned the respect of Whitewater and Mount ... and tailgating with their fans is great.  AND ... I believe we will have a good shot at whichever one we will face in the playoffs this year (Good Lord willing and the frost does not ruin the rhubarb.)

Good luck to HSC with all the games except the one against us.  AND ... no injuries on either side please.  And then we go forward and kick Witt's A**.

You have been silent.  Are you coming to the HSC game?  Are you there Friday night at the pub?

Participation report smack?  Also a first.

I don't think that this particular line of dialogue means anything, but you should probably take the participation reports with a grain of salt.  Wabash's published boxscore doesn't agree with your accounting.

Frankly it's silly to assert that Wabash, or pretty much any fully-rostered college level football team only played 32 guys in an entire game.  If it sounds silly, it probably is.

I'm willing to concede the Wabash participation report is more accurate. Assuming it is, Wabash still played fewer players than against Witt. A much more important game.

As for Nance " staggering" - Nance was only touched twice in the 2nd half. Only once did he hit the ground.

It appears most of the subs came as a part of regular substation. Not because Wabash emptied the bench. 9 starters on their last offense play. Which included a TE. No TE was listed in starting lineup. On its last defensive play not counting the last 36 seconds, there were 8 starters in the game.

The post was still BS.

How does this matter to anything at all?  I don't understand the point.

There is one hell of a doozy in Witt's kickoff preview. These capsules, upon quick review, are VERY well written and reported. Kudos to whoever wrote them.

Big feature on Wabash, too. YOM YOM YOM YOM

I love all the work that goes into this thing. Such a joy to read.

I'm just scratching the surface of Kickoff and it is awesome as always.

I'm also working on a new advanced metric: PPLPR (Points per Player Listed on Participation Report) and of course PPLPR+, which is the same stat normalized to account for game location.

I cannot log in to Kickoff....  Kind of like running out of gas 10 miles from the stadium and kickoff is in 5 minutes.

Uuuugh!
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Which, for a PurPLe PoweR, has a base line set at 1.0?

HSCTiger Fan may not want to read the HSC preview... he may throw his computer out the window into the yard.  :)

I was only paying attention to what they lost on offense .... their defense was hammered by graduation......

Revised projection:  42-3

Yeah, I'm saving a fuller breakdown and prediction for next week, but I do believe what controls the issue on 9/5 is so many new players on the H-SC defense vs. an offense that has everybody except TE back.  There really shouldn't be a whole lot of feeling it out on offense for Wabash.  This group should be ready to - quite literally - hit the ground running.  H-SC will have to figure out how to play keep away, IMO.

I've read it.  Who uses a computer anymore?  Get an iPad!  Much easier to use and much lighter to throw!   :)

As someone who has done the participation report, and seen countless others attempt it.

A. It's not easy, especially with no-huddle offenses, kick and punt teams, fg and xp teams, especially the first game of the year when you don't know your own coaches' rotations, and facing an unfamiliar opponent. I know Brent and his crew do their best to grab everyone, but you can and do miss people on occasion.

B. Many schools don't even do it. Participation is marked automatically in Statcrew when a player does something (tackle, rush, pass, etc.), so many times the backup linemen don't get any participation at those schools.

C. Starters are automatically marked as participating but those are sometimes just what the SID publishes and some schools don't check them at the beginning of the game. Many do, but some don't.

So, this is a long way of saying, don't really trust the game-day stat participation for anything but an idea on who played. I know where I'm at (D-2) the coaches pore over the tapes to make sure they know who is going to be eligible for a redshirt and correct the participation as needed.
