Telling stat about the Wabash D.  Through three games (including two who are frequent postseason participants) - opponents offenses are still at a combined negative 15 in total rushing yards.

More complete thoughts probably tomorrow, but this quote from the game story is worth sharing now.  From senior nose tackle and noted ball hawk Evan Rutter:
Quote
We knew their quarterback is a gunner — he's got an arm — so we knew if we could get hits on him, which I felt like it showed, he was getting up slow towards the end of the game. I don't think he wanted to be out there anymore.

So I can't remember who it was, but I know a denison fan on here was going to this game today, and I think it was the first time he had been to Wooster. If this is you, how did it go?

Say WooClone I'm not the one you are talking about but as always everyone at Wooster was great and had a great time. The band was as good as ever, maybe even better this year. Thought there was an upset coming there at half.

Great to hear! I loved it there, so I'm glad you had a good time. and yeah, I was hopeful, but Denison did really well in the second half. Good luck the rest of the way.

Great highlight package from the game yesterday.....  http://sports.wabash.edu/news/2015/9/26/FB_0926152434.aspx

I love how Wabash produced highlights show both teams positive plays.....

Great job to the Wabash crew yesterday in putting on another top shelf broadcast.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

I once told Brent Harris that he was the most overqualified SID working D3 athletics in the country.  Between him and Jim Amidon and the team they've put together - it is just amazing what they are able to accomplish.

All the credit goes to the students who work the events. They could be in the stands enjoying the game, but they made the choice to learn about working in sports and developing their talents. Without the students and the support of Wabash College (and the alumni!) those opportunities don't exist.

Brent and Jim are terrific, to be sure, but Bill Wagner -- with all he does and 23 teams to cover -- would have my vote.  But you and I are both homers!

Some thoughts and observations from yesterday's big statement win by Wabash at the Hollett:

- I thought Connor Rice was really, really good.  Making his first solo start in THIS game, he did everything Wabash needed him to do.  11-19 maybe isn't the completion percentage Wabash wants, but he had zero turnovers on the day and got the ball into the end zone twice in the first half when Witt had been doing a good job against Zurek and the run game.  Those TDs to Adams and Dickerson were huge plays and kept Witt in chase mode from very early on.  I'm really excited to see how Rice evolves and gets even better over the next month or so as the #1 QB taking all of the snaps.

- Witt had done a great job defending Zurek between the tackles.  I believe Mason had 15 carries for 55 yards or so before having to leave the contest.  That's the kind of effort that Witt had to have to win and they were getting it of the bulk of the first half.  Shamir Johnson stepped in and stepped up after Z left the game though.  That's a combo platter of Johnson being really good (better than I think we knew) and Wabash's offensive line just eroding the Witt front, but Johnson's second half effort was outstanding.

- After further review, Zurek was definitely down before the goal line fumble.  Pretty bad miss by the officials there and I'm just glad that play didn't wind up impacting the result.  Could have been a huge call.

- Wabash's front seven was also outstanding, constantly harassing Zack Jenkins.  I said it before the game, but BJ Hammer is going to figure out how to rush your passer.  It's just an inevitability.  The guy that got the EZ Pass to the QB yesterday was Connor Karns who notched 3.5 of Wabash's 7 QB sacks.

- Wabash's secondary was awesome as well, clearly.  Filling in for starting CB Justin Woods (who unfortunately had to leave the game after the first Witt series), Brian Parks played a great corner all day, often lined up with Cory Stump (he of the 14-234-4 line from one week ago).  Final stats for Stump: 3 catches, 47 yards, 0 TDs.  Final stats for Parks: 3 INT, 57 return yards, 1 TD.  Shhhhh.

I think what I love the most about yesterday's game is that the guys that stand out in the boxscore are substitutes and/or guys we never talk about here.  Parks, Karns, Johsnon, Tom Garrity, Kirby Cox.  The quality of depth is always increasing on this team.  Want to take Drake Christen out of the game?  Fine, they'll throw to Tom Garrity because he can win his matchup and be open.  Want to keep Ethan Buresh out of your backfield?  No problem- Connor Karns can get through instead.  I think there's a really short list of teams out there that can match up with all of the options Wabash can throw at them.  I love it...the ceiling for 2015 keeps getting pushed a little higher and higher every week.

Huge win.  Next week is Homecoming vs. Hiram.  Hopefully a chance to have some fun after a challenging opening month to the season.  You know what?  I vote for gray jerseys next week.
