DePauw's opponents (not including Witt) are 4-28.  I would expect Hunt's numbers to be good.

Checked in to a hotel last week and they tried to give me room 1837.  I asked for a different room and got one.   ;D

Wes - sorry for the delayed response to your post (DPU/Witt) recap but I had some questions/comments:

- we said the Dannies looked physically small, no one said they "stink."  In contrast when you see Wabash, they look physically big.  Just an observation.
- since when is is this "prototypical Bill Lynch?"  40 carries, 255 yards, and 4 TD's???  Did I miss something?
"Power and zone = Galley and Kirchhoff" - I'm not sure that fits.  Power?  Kirchhoff is 165 lbs and Galley is 181 lbs.  In contrast, it's interesting to think that Mason Zurek weighs 60 lbs more than Kirchhoff.  That's kind of freaky to think about.  I can't see those guys running between the tackles against the LG rush D but you should try.
- "the Witt receivers are big and physical?"  - wait, what?  Again, what am I missing?

Amongst other things, I'm anxious to see how Wabash corners - Parks and Pettiford match up against the Dannie receivers.

I assume he is referring to the "power" and "zone" blocking schemes, not the power of the running back.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Let's just look at what the rosters tell us.  By comparison, the best receiver in the conference (who, yes, was held to basically nothing last night by Witt) Brown, of Denison, is 6-0, 195.   i"m going to round off to the nearest 5 lbs. for all the receivers I list.  DPU:  Jeffers 5-11, 175; Hagan 6-0, 185; Hunt 5-10, 165; Grizzard 6-4 210.  And the running backs are 180, 165, 175.  Wittenberg:  Stump 6-0, 185; Culvahouse 5-10 175; Landis 6-0, 170.  Those Witt receivers are not big; they're just good.  Wabash:  Christen, 5-9, 170; Adams 6-3, 220; Garrity 6-3, 205; Dickerson 6-0, 185; Cox 5-10, 150.  And yesterday Wabash rolled out two new freshmen receivers, both of whom caught multiple balls:  Page  6-4, 205, and Thomas 6-4, 175.  Wabash's top running backs are Zurek at 220 and Johnson at 195.  Late in games they have used Gibson at 210.
Indeed, with Hunt at 180, DePauw's skill guys are small.  Wabash's Rice is 225, and Putko is 190.  But their offensive line is about the same size as Wabash's line.  And the defensive starters for the Tigers are just maybe a tad bigger than the Wabash defenders, but there's not much size difference unless we want to argue 5-10 lbs here or there.
From what I have seen, the DPU receivers and backs are a little quicker than the Wabash players at those positions.  I am not saying they are better, and I am not saying that the Wabash skill positions are slow.  The Wabash defense is really fast and physical, so there's that.

Was Denison exposed last night, particularly their defense?  I think so.  The Denison offense has not been productive for several weeks, but it's worth noting that they did not score until the final quarter.

I think most voters are waiting to see if any of their players survive the Monon Bell Game.

The Dannies (41 pts) are five points out of the rankings, behind Whitworth - who will most likely lose their next game (Linfield).  If the new Tigers hold serve this week against OWU, they will crack the top 25.  Even if they get to 9 - 0, I don't see them getting into the top 20.

If both Wabash and DPU are ranked after Week 10, will this be the first time that both have been ranked in the Top 25 when facing off for the Monon Bell?

Pat Coleman

I couldn't see DePauw getting ranked this particular week, no matter how many points by which they beat Allegheny.

I'm being misunderstood. Of course Deoauw isn't ranked. Depauw is so good that no one thinks so.

Could it be?

Another  "THIS IS THE BEST DEPAUW TEAM EVER" team?  Last time THE Dannies made this mantra ... the number 47-0 comes to mind.   I believe that is the score the Little Giants should aim for ... reprise ...  "47-0  THE HUNT".  It is time to pull that 47-0 T-shirt out.  DING DING !!!!

Following the 2010 Monon Bell Game -

So... we got our ass kicked today.

DePauw was not prepared for the Wabash blitz. DePauw was not prepared for mobile quarterbacks. DePauw wasn't really prepared for anything. We couldn't run it. We couldn't throw it. We had no success in any phase of the game. Horrible preparation, horrible gameplan, horrible execution.

I'm embarassed. That sucked out loud. Helluva job Wabash. You earned every second of that. Total domination of a good football team. Best effort of the year by a mile. LG'a proved it today for sure.

How could this happen to a 9-0 ranked Depauw team?

Fear the Flock! Ding..Ding.

Sigma 1, I don't what ganes you have been watching.  The LG's are number 2 ii total defense in the nation.  The Wabash skill positions on defense are mot slow.  On offense, Wabash has added some new wide receivers to the core group this past weekend, both of whom are 6 ft 4 inches. They have plenty of speed plus the height to reach over defenders.  Finally, Zurek has all the speed he needs to knock defenders and then turn on the jets in the open field.  Once in the open there are few who can catch Zurek or Shamir Johnson for that matter.   You need to clean you glasses because you are clearly not seeing a lot of what the LG's are doing.

With Parks and Pediford both with 4.3 or better speed, and fast players on the d-line, linebackers, and defensive backs, Wabash has plenty of defensive speed and you can see the results.
