I hope they win the coin flip . . . but they might take that personally too

A Man for All Seasons is a 1966 British biographical drama film in Technicolor based on Robert Bolt's play of the same name about Sir Thomas More. It was released on 12 December 1966. Paul Scofield, who had played More in the West End stage premiere, also took the role in the film. It was directed by Fred Zinnemann, who had previously directed such films as High Noon and From Here to Eternity. The film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor.

The film ranked number 43 on the British Film Institute's list of the top 100 British films. In 1995, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of cinema, the Vatican listed it among the greatest movies of all time.[3]

Will see this Friday night...I have not seen it.

In high school I had our cheerleading coach for a history class. She didn't actually teach. She just played movies that were historical in nature and then the tests were about the movies. Anyway, we watched A Man for All Seasons in that class. It's an excellent movie.

What I love the most about this play is that at first you think the fumble happens just because Bona just gets hit violently and unexpectedly. But no.  Ludwig punched that thing out while flying through the air.  Good grief.  What a play.

Enjoy it.  On loop.  Forever.

Pretty nasty conditions - but almost a day at the beach compared with the game at Wheaton that day! :o  (Despite crews working to clear the lines almost constantly, a couple of TD calls were delayed because they couldn't for sure find the endzone lines!)

Though neither compares to the 1950 UM-OSU 'Snow Bowl' game where NO ONE (refs, players, certainly not the fans) could see the ball or play more than 10-15 yards away.  Both teams usually tried one play, then punted on second down, because defenses were more likely to score than offenses.  OSU's amazing Vic Janowicz led off the scoring with a FG INTO the gale-force wind (though it was only a short kick, immediately after a blocked punt against UM).  UM had ZERO first downs the entire game, but won 9-3 on a blocked punt TD and a blocked punt safety.  Officially, there were 45 punts in the game by the two teams.  At least the Wabash and Wheaton games bore some resemblance to regular football!  (Amazingly, the attendance in the blizzard (and lack of being able to see much) was slightly over 50,000. :o)

I don't want to steal any of the LG's thunder, but I noticed something tonight that I want to post before everyone leaves the boards for the offseason.

Hiram closed the season on a three-game win streak to finish 4-6. Small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, but...

1) that was the first three-game winning streak Hiram has had since the inception of this website

2) that gave Hiram nine combined wins over the past two seasons. Again, not a big deal until you look back into the archives and realize that Hiram won a total of nine games in the TEN seasons before that (2004-2013).

On the heels of last year's 5-5, I had some hopes for Hiram and kind of wrote them off after starting this season 0-5 (albeit with a front-loaded schedule). Kudos to the Terriers for keeping their noses to the grindstone and closing on a high note to cap the best two-year stretch that program has had in a very long time.

The graduating seniors for Hiram have won more games in the last three seasons than any other class since the inception of the site. Next year's Hiram seniors have the chance to be the first group to leave without a single donut on the board, and with a good season, could have 15 or 16 career wins.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming, coverage of Wabash's playoff run :)
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Congrats to Hiram. However, as a Hiram alum, it is Hiram. Being even cautiously optimistic in regards to Hiram is more often than not still being too optimistic. As a friend of mine used to say: "the glass isn't half full, it's half empty and the other half is empty too".

Doc Emerick needs to call that.

Would have received a Madden Turkey Leg for sure.
