I'm really pumped about Jeff Ramsey.  While he was at Oberlin, I think he was pretty consistently one of the top 2-3 coaches in the league.  Seriously.  There aren't a lot of coaches in D3 that can take the thin rosters he had at Oberlin and win much at all, let alone win games against ranked teams (Wooster in 2003, Wabash in 2012).  He got Oberlin out of the 0-40 hole and turned them into a team that was generally always pesky at their worst, downright dangerous at their best.  That happens with scheme and game planning and Ramsey has always been great in those areas.   I think he's a tremendous addition to the staff- his experience and excellence in the areas I noted can only help.

We've always wondered to ourselves, or at times out loud, what Ramsey might do with a full roster.  Now we get to find out and that's really exciting.  I think Coach Raeburn made an excellent choice here and I can't wait to see how this plays out this fall.  Albion will be a challenge for Ramsey right off the bat.  Very difficult offense to get prepared for in week 1.

Sounds exciting Wally and I agree.  I, too, always liked Coach Ramsey with regard to what he did for Oberlin's program.  I, too, believe that Wabash will benefit with Coach Ramsey.  It will be interesting to see.

Not too early to have fun looking toward Albion.  In reviewing their roster, they graduate a significant portion of their success last year.  Not sure what is right behind these guys.

As for Wabash, I believe we also graduated significant talent ... but almost equal (time will tell if that phrase can change to equal) talent with game experience are back including tested and improving left handed QB with running ability and good receivers.  With RBs who will provide threats of their own.  Lines (both O and D) ... pretty deep with talent. And balance of D ... just fine.

I would believe from my somewhat inept review ... Wabash should roll and the Wabash support in the stands will be there.  I like Albion as a good first game ... but a W for Wabash ... not a nail bite.

do any Wittenberg faithful know who and where your first game will be against?  I found info for the other games of all ncac teams this year except that first game. Only a couple of teams have schedules up, OWU and Wooster being the two I have seen.

I believe they have the return game with Capital to open 2016.

NCAC out-of-conference openers for 2016

           Allegheny------------Thiel
           DePauw--------------Mt St Joseph
           Oberlin---------------Kalamazoo
           Ohio Wesleyan------Mary Hardin-Baylor
           Wabash--------------Albion
           Wittenberg----------Capital
           Wooster-------------Washington & Jefferson
In 2015 Denison opened with Marietta; Hiram with Westminster (PA); Kenyon with Sewanee.  Could be they play those teams this year as well, but I can't find any information on that.
     Some tough OOC games.

OWU has the toughest. It will be interesting to see what they do in the future after two years of MHB.

Denison has the return game with Marietta
Sewanee will be at Kenyon

I can't confirm what Hiram is doing.  They've played Westminster six seasons in a row and just completed a home-and-home cycle.  Neither school has a 2016 schedule posted.  I would guess that this series will continue, unless Westminster wants to use these next four years to transition from Hiram to their 2020 game with Mount Union.

MSJ is garbage.  If DePauw doesn't win by 15+ then they aren't for real in the NCAC for 2016.

MSJ was 8-2 then 7-3 the past two seasons. It's not like they're Muskingum or Earlham....

Yeah but literally played NOBODY those two years while talent has trended down at that school.

I wouldn't call Franklin or RHIT 'nobody'. Sure, Augie's down from their glory days, but they're still scheduling a CCIW team for a non-conference game.

Are you still a little sore about them dropping you?

Agree that DePauw should probably thrash MSJ if they are what people think they are.  If they struggle in that game, they get skeptical side eye for another month until they go to Springfield and get the job done on the road against a Wittenberg team that 1) probably wants to avenge last season's result and 2) may well have their entire season on the line (again).
