I hope we are getting a good one.

HSC now has something in common with two NCAC insitutions; Wabash/all male/kicked our butts in football, now DePauw.
Maybe Dr. Stimpert will fund many more trips to Wabash. That is a great D3 venue and would love to have a reason to return.

Definitely a thing DePauw knows a thing or seven about.   :)

Off topic, but hey it's off season.  Yesterday Wabash finished 4th at the NCAA Division III wrestling nationals.  Wartburg is the 2016 champion.  Two Wabash wrestlers won national titles:   Devin Broukal at 133lbs, and Riley Lefever at 184lbs.  Broukal is the first unseeded wrestler entering the tournament since 2012 to win a title.  Lefever is a junior, and this is his 3rd straight national championship at 184.  He is one of only 16 wrestlers to win three titles.  There has been only one wrestler with four national titles, so that's the company he has a chance to enter next year.  Lefever finished the year undefeated and was named the most outstanding wrestler in the tournament.

Nice job LG wrestlers. My youngest wrestled, and I know how difficult it can be.

I watched Lefevre take out the kid from W&L in about 4 minutes. He was very impressive. Congratulations to him on another title.

Here we go again.  Coach Raeburn has applied for the head coaching position at Savannah State.  Decision to be made by Friday.

I'd be somewhat surprised if he gets offered that leap, but kudos to him for being in the conversation. The other two coaches up for the job have D1 experience and head coaching experience, so Coach Raeburn must have really done a good job to stand out in a field that was probably filled with "easier" choices to get to the final 3.

Joe Wally and fellow Wabashers:

I do not intend any negativity towards Coach Raeburn in any way whatsoever for his looking at these other jobs, so please do not misinterpret what I am about to ask.  My questions are as follows.  what do you think about his wanting to eventually leave Wabash?  He has a great program going and has obviously done a great job and is well-liked it appears.  However, are you Wabashers a little concerned that he intends to leave sometime and was that ever known (at least to some degree) it was his long-range plan when he was hired at W?  As jknezek related, it would seem an outside chance he would get the Savannah State job given the other two finalist's history, although if he does, that is a great accomplishment and honor for Coach R.  If he does get hired there, then who would you guys and other alumni have on the "wish-list" for his replacement at Wabash if/when that ever happens?  Who would be on "the radar"?  Hopefully, he will stay, yet, again, I would wish him all the best if/when he makes a move up if that is what he is ultimately looking for.  Just curious as to your thoughts.  Thanks.

Joe Wally

I have no idea what was known or expected when Raeburn signed on.

What I do know is that he is a young man looking to advance his career.  He can hardly be blamed for that, and we can't realistically be disappointed if and when he makes that next move.  As much as we Little Giants like to think differently, the head coaching job at Wabash is not the pinnacle of collegiate coaching (I mean, there's Notre Dame, of course).

I do hope that it does not happen this year as we have already lost our D coordinator this winter.

Well, if ER wants a challenge, then Savannah State is definitely a challenge. The last coach resigned after going 2-32 over three seasons in the MEAC. It's an HBCU. Support seems to be friends and family type in the stands.

Their 2016 schedule has two open dates. They play Georgia Southern and Southern Mississippi next year, both of whom went to bowl games last year.

Savannah State makes Creighton's job at EMU seem like a cakewalk.

WOW, they must be BA-A-AD!  I've never before seen EMU and 'cakewalk' in the same sentence (except perhaps describing the situation of the opponent). ;)

Joe Wally

I've got a bad feeling about this.

Announcement is supposed to be today sometime. Getting late.
