Per my Albion-alum relatives in Michigan: Coley LOST that QB job badly. The freshmen is supposedly the real deal, but my cousins have been known to operate in hyperbole. No better test than the LG defense to test this kid's ability.

Hiram College wins the inter-collegiate basketball world championship at the World's Fair Universal Exposition Olympic Games in St. Louis, Missouri. Final score: Hiram, 25; Latter Day Saints University, 18.

During the Podcast Pat mentioned that Capital had a scrimmage scheduled but the other school cancelled because they didn't have enough players.  That caused me look at Oberlin.  They only have 53 on the roster and only thirteen freshmen.

In other words, Oberlin's becoming Oberlin again.

Sadly seems so.

I legitimately remember where I was when I found out Oberlin beat Wabash a few years back.

That's a shame.

Are we certain that it was Oberlin scheduled to do a joint practice (I say joint practice because I think at the time Pat went through Columbus, it would have been too soon for the traditional Saturday-before-season dress rehearsal) with Capital?  If Oberlin took a pass on that, I hardly blame them.  I don't think the risk of going full contact against another squad is worth the reward for them.

Teams get two of those this year, so I think the timing is not locked into being the same as things are traditionally done.

The Gators are all over Thiel 21-6 early in the 2nd quarter.  Good stuff.

31-6 Gators at the half.  Allegheny has had two TDs called back on penalties.

38-6 is the final from Thiel.  Um, wow.  I watched the last three quarters of this game and what I saw tonight was 20x better than anything else Allegheny has done in four seasons.  Impressive start for Coach Hammer and the Gators.

32-point win for the Gators is their largest victory margin since defeating Hiram 52-7 in September 2006.  Congrats to coach Hammer, his team, and his staff.  Good for the NCAC.

Congrats to Coach Hammer and the Gators. I hope this is a sign of big things to come. This conference is getting interesting.

I never said that it was Oberlin, but that's the school that came to mind as a prime 'suspect.' And I did not intend to 'blame.' But I now see that Earlham only has 45 players.

Another Allegheny superlative- last night was their first win outside of the NCAC since beating Carnegie Mellon on 9/10/11.  They did beat Wooster in 2012 in an official non-league contest.  An awful lot of bad juju got washed away last night.
