Thanks for the info, Exiled. I saw that on Facebook today and was coming to share. I feel sick and that's the absolutely crushing for the college community and team. I feel so bad for his family, friends, the team and the college.

Cannot even begin to state how terrible I feel for the Wooster Community and that young man's family

Wow.  What a tragedy.  I cannot begin to comprehend what that young man's parents are going through.  Prayers for his family and teammates.

My daughter was a Marching Scot--our thoughts are with the Wooster community and the Geib family.

Has anyone been able to gather any news related to the cause of death yet? I'm still shocked.

I don't think it's out yet. Here's the latest article from the Daily Record: http://www.the-daily-record.com/news/20170917/cow-football-player-dies-college-says

After reading that, you just feel even worse for the family, especially his dad. His mom passed away unexpectedly two years ago, and as he was walking off the field he told his dad that, "this is the best day ever"

To The College Wooster

I decided not to attend the Mount Union game Saturday, both because of the long drive to Marietta and because of the expected outcome (Mount won 69-3). Having been a fan of Wooster football for years, I attended the game against Ohio Wesleyan. Great game-really enjoyed the Wooster win, the spirit of the fans and, of course, the great Scot Band. Had a nice ride back to Alliance after a very enjoyable day in Wooster.
Is there anything better than a DIII football game on a fall (albeit warm) day?
Then, Sunday I saw on DIII Football that Clayton Geib had passed away. Wait, I just watched him play. How could this happen to a young man-athlete, scholar, ready to graduate from college? Wally Wabash said it best-"absolutely gut wrenching".
This old Mount Union alum (class of 57) extends condolences to his family, his football family and the College of Wooster community.
I like to think we also have a DIII football family. If a team loses a player, every team loses a player. I'm certain the sorrow runs deep across the land.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

While nothing is confirmed, it is believed that it was brain related. The article is correct that it was not caused by trauma so perhaps an aneurysm had occurred. Could have happened if Clayton was playing any other sport.

Thoughts to the entire Wooster community, his teammates, and his family. What an awful tragedy.

It almost feels inappropriate to talk about football right now, unfortunately. Nonetheless, congratulations to Depauw on a well-played victory.

Condolences to the Wooster family.
I too, attended the Hiram-Depauw game Saturday.
Congrats to Depauw. I sat next to some Tiger fans during the game. A class act across the board.
Hiram's passing game looked pretty good (4 TD's , 300+ yds), a lot of other things didn't.
Almost 100 yds in penalties, at least 4 personal fouls. Seems to be a ongoing trend.

Terrible news at Wooster.

My condolences to the Wooster community and Clayton's family.

What is this with Wheaton?  I might expect something like this from some of the renegade out of control D 1 teams/schools ... but Wheaton?  And it occurred in 2016 and some of the players/miscreants are charged with felonies but played last weekend?  All the while Wheaton higher up/leadership are "investigating" ?  My personal view ... this is a smelly non-leader D 1 type cover ... not one expected from a school like Wheaton.  Have national rankings run amok as well in D 3 ... sad.

I suspect I will receive chastisement for posting this but how could this go so wrong?

Yeah, that's what it looks like to me too. There's been a lot of conversation about it on the CCIW page (starting on 2303). Someone (I can't remember who and don't want to go back and find it) said they may have been suspended for one game at the start of last season. But is the allegations and Wheaton's response are true, a one game suspension, 50 hours of community service, and an 8 page paper is no where close to being enough

Some early stat browsing has turned up some interesting items.

- NCAC quarterbacks currently hold positions 3, 5, 6, and 8 nationally in individual total offense.  There are some really talented quarterbacks in the league this year.

- Denison leads the division in total offense per game.  The Big Red are gaining 9.85 yards per play, y'all.  Not per completion.  Per.  Play.  This is the evolution of Canaan Gebele.  Over his first two years, he's been outstanding at avoiding putting the ball at risk.  He just doesn't turn the thing over.  Through two games this season, he's taken the next step- not only is he processing everything well enough to keep possession, now he's processing the defense in a way that maximizes the damage he can do.  It's bloody frightening.

Offense is happening in a big, big way in the NCAC in 2017.
