It wasn't that long ago Wabash lost to Allegheny and Oberlin at home, and they did alright after that. I don't think anyone called for ER's head then.

It's definitely a lack of confidence in any QBs, which I think speaks to recruiting more than anything.

But it is frustrating, I understand.

Please stop the ER comparisons.  Was he ever 56-61?

No, but he never coached for teams that didn't have a lot of emphasis on football, until now.

He had capital that Morel doesn't.

When ER lost to Oberlin and Gheny he had already:

Beaten Depauw 3 times
Beaten Witt 2 times
Had a deep run in the playoffs the year before.

Which of these has Morel done?

Which of these does anyone have confidence he will do?

Points taken, but I don't think the sky is falling, especially on a 4-0 team.

I don't think there's any shame in giving the Pups 21 yesterday. That's a pretty good offense.

Wabash and Hiram played 8 times between 2001 and 2015 (this time period is not randomly chosen).  Hiram scored 24 points total in those 8 games.  Some of those teams were extraordinarily bad, some were decent.  Hiram's best single game point total against Wabash in recorded human history has been 21 points: achieved on 10/1/2016 and 9/23/2017.  What's different?  That can be rhetorical.

Counterpoint - Hiram is GREATLY improved. Between 2001 and 2015, the Terriers were awful, abysmal, egregious, terrible, no good, bad, bad bad, bad bad bad. Rotten.

They've turned it around to mediocre.

2014 - They gave up 10 to Robert Partridge. Good defenses in the NCAC contained him as well.
2015 - Wabash played Hiram before they changed QBs to Nick Paolo, who in his starts went 4-1 and scored oodles of points (except aganst Witt).
2016 - Gave up 21 to Hiram, but only Witt and Westminster held them under 14.
2017 - Wabash held Hiram to the least amount of points in their 3 games.

You gotta give Hiram's offense credit. The issue is Wabash's offense, which only scored 25 points against a team that gave Earlham 41. That's not a defensive problem - there's an offensive problem.

Again,  Hiram played very tough.   Their talent is getting there.

Feel bad for the Wabash seniors that have gotten to see the train wreck.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

3-0.

Against teams that are a combined 2-8 (and combined 7-23 last year). C'mon, man, let's not pretend this 3-0 is anything to be excited about.

That team we saw yesterday won't beat Wooster, Denison, Witt, or Depauw.

And if you think 6-4 is okay, cool. The rest of us don't.

Forgive me for changing the subject from the crisis of confidence in C-ville, but we've got a big league matchup in Denison vs. Witt this week. Some would say it's the conference championship this year. Will Denison make it two in a row over Witt?

I'm going to enjoy the bye week from tailgating and watch this game. I think it will be epic.

I'm impressed that there is less angst on these boards coming from a 1-2 UWW than a 3-0 Wabash. Especially with UWW staring down a match up with UWO next week.

What a luxury it must be to refer to a 3-0 team as a train wreck lol

The WIAC board is just dead quiet these days.

Sorry, 3-0.

No, I don't think 6-4 is cool. I do know that Denison and DPU have improved. I expected a tough slog in the NCAC this year, for everyone. I think the NCAC will have just one playoff team this year, because everyone else will have two losses.

The sky will have totally fallen when conference opponents do to us what St. Thomas and Whitewater have done to us in the playoffs. (Or what Wabash has done to DPU in 2010-2015. ) I'll take winning ugly as long as it's winning.

I think this is an issue with not developing a QB, and forgetting that Ike James exists. We don't want "Kaiser left - Kaiser right - Kaiser up the middle on a third down draw", but James and the running game needs to be a focus, along with recruiting a QB.

Sticking with my theme: Why do we need to wait until the truck is upside down and on fire in a bar ditch? We see where the truck is headed.

Do we want to be like Allegheny? Do we need an to go 2-38 like they did? Why wait until then to do something that we can see needs to be done?

it's too late now. Mid-season changes never solve anything, they just paper over the root problem.
