ugh. just whatever.

You guys don't know what you're talking about and I don't have the energy to try and make up for you not paying attention to anything but a record or a (weak) schedule.

The bad thing has already happened. And it's not a loss. The loss, saturday's loss, is not the introduction of the issue -- it's an illustration (yet another) of an issue's severity. An issue that is difficult to point out because of people like you nodding toward a piece of paper and saying "But see? The W number is higher!"

I'm grossed out. And I'm angry. I went to Wabash because they were bombastic and ridiculous and they *meant* it. When the "Wabash Always Fights" stuff gets hollowed out, I/we can feel it and it's painful. It's embarrassing. As an alum, I am embarrassed. Stand for what you promote and promote what you stand for. If that's this, the current state of things, then I'm gonna stop watching real soon. Because it's a degradation of what I identify with as a Wabash Man. I'm gonna check out. And my guess is -- if I'm saying that -- then other people are feeling it too.

That's heartbreaking.

This Saturday may tell us a bit more.  Will Wabash regain some health?  In the wake (double meaning) of last week, will  there be an attempt to modify the offense?  The defense?  If the will is there, this should be a week to try some new things.  Toddling along as before will provide more information, even if Oberlin presents a more formidable opponent than they have the last two or three years.  I go back to Wabash being (only) an 8.5 point favorite on Plck Em.
Whether or not we see the same kind of effort or performance, the result at Oberlin, unless it's a loss, won't tell us everything.  But that result might tell us if there is more or less to worry about.  The real tests will be in the two big games remaining.  And even the Allegheny game will figure into the equation.
While hoping for an unlikely win, I could live with a competitive loss to the Old Tigers, a win in the Bell Game, and decisive wins vs. Oberlin and Allegheny.  I don't hold much hope at this point in the season that we are going to see a substantial turn around, but a good finish would help, though not alleviate, concerns about down the road.
The Bell Game could be, will be the clincher.  Win and we will feel better.  Lose and . . .along with a loss to Witt, the drums will beat louder.

What will the AD use to evaluate the coaches? Does he watch the film? Will he delegate that up to the President?

Sometimes you need an AD who is more of a technocrat than a rah-rah person, with all of the requisite headaches with facilities, academics, recruiting, compliance, etc. Yet do we need one with more 'presence'?

We had an AD here to basically build a facility and get it started. Now we have an AD who is well versed in the NCAA, and in paperwork, I assume.

Again, the question is - will he evaluate based solely on metrics, or other measures.

I hope I made sense.

I think this is the disconnect, those of us that love the program aren't sure this won't fall on deaf ears.  That's the real fear I am seeing, hearing, and feeling.

LG - can we all make a pact that ER is ER, CC is CC, and Don Morel is Don Morel.  He can earn initials.

Smeds - what makes you think the AD will evaluate anything?  Apparently he doesn't even go to the games.  He sits in his "Command Center" (his office).  Anyone remember how passionate Dean Bambrey was during games on the sideline when he was the AD?  In so many ways we are lacking that passion.  I remember Dean Bambrey hugging players who had suffered ACL tears or serious injuries before they even left the field.  That was caring and that was being passionate.

As the Wabash football team goes, the College goes.  Hopefully this becomes more and more evident to those that don't fully recognize the impact.  2001-2016 - can we go back???

Well, that was the question. I don't think you can properly evaluate coaches without seeing how they work with players in practice and during games.

I admit I laughed when I read this. You gotta deal.

Oberlin has 143 yards of offense with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter. What am I watching?!?

Do we teach "let the punt roll to the goal line"? Is that what our coaches actually want?

Just tuned in when James made the 78-yard run. I take it from the other comments and the score line that the game has been ugly for the LGS up to this point.

The punt return thing is incredible.  It really is. Wabash has forfeited at least 60 yards of field position today because they don't catch punts.
