DePauw beat themselves, but just going to leave this photo here. Wabash with an illegal formation on the second fake field goal.

OK - I'll take this up. Its not like either one of us has any football to look forward to next weekend.

Better video here: https://youtu.be/n7LilGMUQwE?t=2m13s

Wabash lined up for the second fake FG with only ten players. So for starters - wabash converted the 4th down with one fewer player on the field. So there's that going for DePauw's effective coverage on the second fake fg.

Second - should there have been a flag called? As a recovering football official, I'll be happy to admit I've missed my fair share of calls.  You know what call I never missed? Any call related to counting players and verifying down linemen.  We've got nothing better to do between plays. We do it every single play.  All the time. Its easy. If there aren't exactly 11 on each side of the ball, your hair stands up on the back of your neck. If there are 12, easy flag for illegal substitution. So why no flag here? If there are 10 on offense, this is where the rules between high school and the NCAA differ. NFHS says you must have 7 down linemen. Per NCAA Rule 7-4-a-4, you can have no more than 4 in the backfield. With 11 players it means the same thing. With only 10 on the field, only having 6 on the line is legal since there are still no more than 4 in the backfield (PK, H/QB, 2 TEs).

You can't blame the officials for this one.

It'd be worth asking Coach Morel, but it wouldn't surprise me if playing 10 was part of the design on this fake play. After the last fake, everyone is looking for the missing man lined up on the Wabash sidelines. Nobody on defense is going to want to miss their assignment and so with one man missing from the kicking team, maybe a few are worried about where their man is and not paying attention to that TE. Or maybe somebody from Wabash forgot to run out onto the field and they pulled off the second fake anyway.

John Oliver had a segment on his show yesterday where a certain Network always says, "Well, what about..." when faced with an uncomfortable truth.

I feel DPU is doing the same deflection.

Makes sense, since one of their own is employed by that Network...

Awards picks?

OPOY - I think it's gonna be Gary Muntean.  He had a tremendous year.  If I had a top three I'd add Ike James and Logan Lee in there.

DPOY - Colten Buzzard had a phenomenal season at Allegheny, but I don't know if the league DPOY can come from a team that gives up 43 ppg.  There's a disconnect there.  I think my pick would be Chandler Ferko at Witt.

NewcomerOtY - Hmmm...that's a mystery.  I know who Matt Crupi would vote for:

Coach of the Year - I think it will be Joe Fincham.  Undefeated in the league, won his three toughest games (Westminster, DePauw, Wabash) all on the road.  I think Frank Colaprete did a wonderful job this year as well, particularly given the loss of Clayton Geib midseason.  Could be either of these coaches.

I missed this yesterday and shame on me, but I wanted to point out the First Team selection of Wooster's Clayton Geib.  Incredibly class gesture from the conference and coaches.  Bravo.

Seven Witt guys on the 1st team D.  Good lord that's a haul.

Also, no Logan Lee?!  I get that Kennedy was the QB of the champs, but Lee threw for over 3,000 yards and 33 scores.  Come on, at least give the kid the nod at HM.

Kudos to the coaches and conference for that.

I watched the first half and Witt does not look good offensively at all (63 total yds).  It's been a defensive struggle, but Frostburg's QB has been efficient.  He looks slippery back there eluding the rush too.  They had a long punt return to set up their first score so that certainly helps, but 14-0 feels more like 28-0 at this point.

I was shocked at the margin of the score for Witt, especially since it was a home game for them.
