Good 1st half, Wabash up 34-10, awesome 98 yd run by Avant for the latest TD.  Tempers a bit hot on both teams after a Gator cheap shot on a punt return late in the half, and an Allegheny player DQed (different kid) after the play.  Even BJ came down from the press box to make his opinion known!  So no let down so far, and I don't see one coming after that turn of events.

It was not a cheap shot.  The player who was back to catch the punt feigned  the catch to let the ball roll in the end and pretended to catch and run with the ball.  The Allegheny player thinking he had the ball  and tackled him.  It was a legit tackle with the fake.

You can review the play here

You'll get a good replay at 1:48:22.  Stroh is decoying by acting out the catch of a punt, not in the midst of acting out an actual return.  I don't know the specific rule here, so I can't say for sure whether or not the play was technically legal.  I can say that the play was bush league.  That's very much the kind of intent-to-injure play that the keepers of the game are trying to get out of the game.  That wasn't heads up.  That wasn't tough.  That was bush league.

does anyone know the tie breaking scenario if there is a 3-way in the NCAC.?

Everything that I've read (in Jablonski's Wabash/Witt post game writeup) or heard (on Wabash's home broadcast on Saturday) says that Denison would go to the tournament if all three co-leaders win on Saturday.

I do not know the mechanics by which we get there.  But that information (Denison as the league's AQ) at this point seems pretty solid.

All the teams in the NCAC play each other, so the first four tiebreakers in the NCAC's system would not break the tie between the three first-place teams. The fifth tiebreaker would. It goes to the team with "the longest active winning streak in conference games at the end of the season."

Below are the Wabash College game notes for the 125th Monon Bell Classic.   It is going to be a chilly day in Crawfordsville, which means we won't need ice to keep the kegs cold.

The DePauw game notes are here.  It is obvious that Dan Quayle did not edit this document as "potato" is spelled correctly.

Good luck in the 125th Monon Bell game Saturday. It sounds like it is exciting, something to look forward to and lots of fun. I wish Mount Union had a similar rivalry game. I'm really envious of you guys. 125th? Wow. That's a lot of football. And a lot of good times. At least if it's as cold as I've heard, as was pointed out, the kegs will stay cold. No ice needed.
Have fun and get/keep that bell. Go Little Giants! 😃🍺❗️
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Since, as you say, you're old, and maybe you've forgotten, but I've heard that back in the day, before the Wooster left the OAC for NCAC in 1984 they were considered a rivalry game. BTW according to Mt Union's website Wooster leads the series 38-30-4.

I didn't forget. For years, I did stats and records for the media guide. The won-loss record against Wooster was always in my head. But it wasn't a rivalry the likes of Wabash/DePauw. No trophy exchanged and less fanfare than the Monon Bell. Thinking back to my freshman year in 1953, I can't recall Wooster ever being thought of as a great rival. Also, in those days, Mount stunk. The 4 years I was there, they won a total of 10 games (5-2-2-1, not in that order). Maybe I really do get mixed up, but Mount/Wooster not like Wabash/DePauw to the best of this old memory!

Yeah, there are rivals and there are RIVALS.

For years, Butler and Wabash were rivals on the gridiron, but not to the fear and loathing extent of DPU.

Great job by Wabash to keep the Bell in Crawfordsville.

Pool C?  Now we wait.

DadofBashWarrior..

Another great win this year...we wait...

Good luck Bash fans. Hoping the North region can be the one that sends 2 pool C's to the dance, but I fear the South region will be the one sending 2 teams with Centre and Hardin Simmons. I'll admit I'm behind researching the East region, but I have a hard time thinking the national committee shuts them out of pool C representation.
