I watched Wabash on the video last night and stay dry.  For having not played for almost 2 years, the LG's looked pretty good.  There were some rough edges to be sure, but those will improve.

RH didn't look bad and should also have a pretty good season.

Actually, I think Wabash didn't just look good for a team that hadn't played in nearly two years. I think we looked as good as any team in Week 1 during the Don Morel era. I think of losing to UWSP and a last second TD to force OT against Albion. We looked way better than that last night.

I don't have much to add to what has already been said except to say the defense looks like it will be very good. I'm also concerned about Liam having to scramble a lot. But I think those things will work out with time.

All in all a good solid win. On to Hiram. And as always, WAF.

Wabash special teams did field the punts, though fair caught most of them and let one roll.  A few years ago Wabash fans were upset that all punts were let to roll.

What are Depauw's chances against Bulter next week?  Butler used to have a decent team, but notice they play a lot of D3 teams recently.

bleedpurple

I don't think Butler is very good, but I don't see where they are really playing many D-III teams.

Wabash wins on the road and is rewarded with three less points in the polls.

Thanks DeepPurple, I thought Taylor was D3, and Saint Thomas used to be in the MIAC, it not anymore...

Correct on St. Thomas, they are making the jump to D1, in the Pioneer League in football so still non-scholarship (local-ish teams in Pioneer are Butler, Valpo, and Dayton).

Off-topic, I know, but I'm surprised St. Thomas didn't get in a better conference. Football is a priority and big deal for the Tommies, it's hard to say that for literally any other school in the Pioneer.

There was no D3 conference which would have been a good fit. It was the only non-scholarship football option for them if they were to stay NCAA. They are in the Summit League for other sports, except ice hockey. The Summit League schools that sponsor football include North Dakota, North Dakota St, South Dakota, South Dakota St, and Western Illinois, whose football teams compete in the MVC one of the top FCS conferences.

The favorite won on the road. So basically unchanged in the poll. Doesn't that mean they are who the pollsters thought they were at this point?

Looking forward to Hiram vs. Wabash:

- Mrozinski did a great job in his first game as an HC. The team was organized, penalties weren't an issue, and the game plan was executed pretty well - sans a couple small errors and a special teams gaffe.
- I think Reyero did an excellent job managing the game for the Terriers. He was efficient, smart, and did a good job taking care of the ball.
- Hiram's offense is able to manage the game tempo in ways not seen under Moore or Stafford - they can be fast when they need to, but they're equally adept at grinding it out.
- Having said that, this is the best run-blocking OL I've seen out of the Terriers in my memory.
- The defense forced four turnovers and plays fast - but that's also an Achilles heel, as 'Bash's athletes could be gone with one missed tackle in a way not seen by Bethany.

Looks like Wabash played well against RH, and they're obviously the favorite going into this one. If Hiram can run the ball and then use RPO/PA, it can be a close one, though.

Butler has been an is a basketball school. Over the last 5 seasons their FB record is 27-40. I think they used to play a few more D3s, but as bleedpurple indicates, games vs D3s have been fewer in recent years. However, I think the better D3 teams would almost always have a decent shot against Butler on the gridiron if not the hardcourt.
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)

HCAlum86, wishing you a great day, appreciate your efforts to get this chat room more active.  Being a Wabash grad I'll have mixed reactions watching the game, knowing one of us might be sad at the end of the afternoon. 😉

HCAlum86, posts on NCAC will pick up....
We all have been punched in the gut the last year plus...
