Wabash 42
DePauw 28

Wabash controlling the line of scrimmage, dominating this second half.  A playoff effort, wish we could have seen this defensive intensity all season.

Very solid season for the Bishops....congrats to the LG's...
When some had you counted out on this one, you proved the phrase

DePauw coached themselves into this loss, tried to go for the jugular instead of sticking with the boring running game that was working beautifully.  Eventually the momentum shifted so severely they couldn't dig themselves out.

We did live up to WAF today.  Not sure what the biggest lead lost in Bell history is but today has to rival it.

Always means always. I'm proud of the team and happy for the seniors. #WAF

Enjoy the playoffs without the Bell, Dannies.

Great5 game LG's.  The Bell is safely home in C'Ville.  Once again the Tigers reap their reward for the vile signal stealing game in 1998.

Depauw Never Quits! Except this one time!

It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Recognize the difference.

I'm guessing they will enjoy the playoffs without the Bell more than the Little Giants will enjoy the Bell without the playoffs.

Nah, you don't understand how important the Bell is to Wabash, it's the life-blood of the school.  I do wish Depauw success in the tournament, want to see the NCAC well represented.  I wonder if Andries was injured in some way, maybe a mild concussion, as he did not seem on-his-game in the second half.

I actually get it. And that's cool to have that kind of a rivalry.  Kind of a season saver. I was just matching the snark with snark. Congrats to both teams.

BleedPurple, we're good.  I hope this game is remembered as The Stiff Arm, as after Liam made that play BASH was a different team.

Congratulations to DePauw on winning the NCAC and advancing to the playoffs.  Maybe the Bell Game loss takes a little shine off the trophy--but not much.  In all likelihood, though, yesterday's loss probably cost DPU a first-round playoff home game.  DIIIFB projection has them going to UW LaCrosse, a tough opponent.  We will find out this afternoon what actually happens.
On the flip side, an amazing win for Wabash as once again, as it has for five years, the Game is a one-score affair.  This one will help the LGs lick their wounds from earlier close losses.  I have been critical of the defense this year, and they gave up 35 yesterday.  But they also bowed their necks when needed.  And credit Morel and the staff on some gutsy play calls throughout the year on two-point conversions and on several big downs yesterday.  Now, if somehow Wabash could just get the intensity back next year.
Though the game is important to both teams I've long thought it is far more important to Wabash as a measure of program success and campus morale.  Wabash has fewer than 900 students and is an extremely close-knit tradition-heavy place.  The BELL sets on a perch above the main entrance to the Allen Athletics Center, so it's seen by everyone who enters a building that is the heart and soul of Wabash activity throughout the year.

Possibly. But we also probably cost them a first round playoff game at home. Which might make their trip to the playoffs a little less enjoyable. And shorter. Win-win.

Well said Sigma One, like that you give credit to Morel for gutsy play calling, I do like him as the Head Coach.  Never been impressed with his Defense either.  Erik Reaburn on the other hand was just the opposite.  I know Reaburn is HC at Gannon U, are any of his former D players coaches anyplace?

Also love the message Coach Woody is making at IU, that young players "think" they are playing hard but.... Wabash proved Woody's point Saturday.  If the Little Giants had played with the intensity they did in the last 3 quarters, over the entire season, their season could have been a lot different.  I think this disastrous strategy of fair-catching every kick sets the tone of complacency.
