Nice win for WOO.  Can't believe WOO went for 2 after the last score.  They should have downed the ball. It almost cost them the game.

Terrible loss for Witt today after being up 30-7 at half. Let Wooster score 37 in the second half, including a huge fourth quarter to lose.

Wooster's mistake was not in going for two.  It was in going for two with that play.

Correct. Often times it's not the strategy of going for two (or on fourth down), it's the play call. People get either too clever by half or are way too predictable.

Safest play would have been to kneel and not risk a turn-over that lead to a score.  Yes you would risk Witt striking big and getting into FG range, but that was not how the game was going for Witt.  Nice to see WOO secure the win, that will be a fun memory for those guys and the school for a long time.

Very weird seasons for both of those teams.

Really interesting situation at Wittenberg where 5-5 is a distinct possibility in Year 1 post-Fincham.  Ohio Wesleyan is coming for Ye Olde Skull this weekend.  If common opponents do anything for you, OWU beat Wooster by four touchdowns and beat Denison by 5+ touchdowns.

And Wabash beat Witt by 7 in Springfield and OWU by 17 in Crawfordsville.  Against the Bishops it could have been worse with Bash doing its usual thing and going conservative for the last 20 minutes.  The old Tigers beat the new Tigers 30-7 in Greencastle, while the Bishops lost to DPU 22-21 on a late TD.  Go figure.  Tough to predict the NCAC this year.

Nah. Never give them a chance to win with a FG if you can help it. Weird things can happen. You want to try to make it a 3 point game.

I agree with Smed.  There's no difference between one and two, so you always (if there's time for two plays) try to make it a 3 point game, but you do it in the safest way.  You run the ball or throw to the back corner.  You do not run toss, or try a reverse, and you do not throw straight sideways (what Wooster did).

On a completely different note, who new that Witt and Depauw had so much in common?

They're both called Tigers, and they both know how to blow a 21-0 first quarter lead.

This week's games in the NCAC:
DENISON (6-2)/WOOSTER (5-3)  An interesting game.  Dension was idle last week and beat Witt before that.  Woo is coming off a remarkable 44-43 win, also v. Witt.  The Scots have won three in a row.  Denison has won their last two.  If comparison scores mean anything (doubtful), The Big Red played DePauw to a narrow 17-13 defeat, while Woo was crushed 59-0 by the new Tigers in the midst of a mid-season slide.  Both are capable of winning this one; edge to Denison.
DEPAUW (7-1)OBERLIN (0-8)  DPU will handle the depleted Yeomen (their starting QB is injured--not that his loss would make much difference).  It appears that Renie will be back at QB for the new Tigers.  DePauw can coast this week with the Bell Game on the near horizon.
HIRAM (1-7)/HILBERT (0-5)  Hiram gets win #2.  Hilbert gets more experience.  The Terriers offense will put up big points.
WITTENBERG (4-4)/OHIO WESLEYAN (4-4).  A key game for both teams that have not played up to pre-season expectations.  OWU has played DePauw close, losing 22-21 on a very late TD reception.  The old Tigers handled the new Tigers in Greencastle for DPU's only defeat.  Last week's deflating loss to Woo should have Witt in a foul mood.  Perplexing game, but should go to Witt, though I'd not be surprised if the Battling Bishops squeeze out a win.
WABASH (6-2)/KENYON (3-5)  Two of the three Owl wins have been against Oberlin (28-21) and Hiram (34-31).  The LGs are on a roll and are themselves coming off wins v. Oberlin (66-20) and Hiram (59-23).  What might seem like a classic trap game v. a better Kenyon team than we've seen in some years I don't think will happen as Wabash gears up for DPU next week in the expected game for the NCAC title and a playoff bid.  But it could be a classic shootout if the weather allows.  Forecast is for high winds, 25 gusting to 40 and a good chance for rain.

Super bad news for both of these teams.  That's not passin' weather.

Uggh, the weather forecast for Crawfordsville looks miserable for a football game.  If it turns into a running game, will that favor either team?

Think that would favor Wabash with the better OL and the fact that Kenyon is not very good against the run this year. Kenyon also wants to really throw the ball I assume against Wabash but a lot of that will be negated this week.
