Divorces 3, Bell Wins 1

First and only time poster here.

When Wabash wins the Bell, how dumb are all you out of touch, multiple divorce/DUI-having, pompous old men going to feel? I'm embarrassed as a Wabash alum that guys like a former dean are on this board trashing a staff that literally recruits a third of the campus every year. Or that guys with more divorces than Bell wins think they have anything to add to this conversation. Half of you critics, like that fat failed golfer, couldn't point out a 3 tech if they had to. Do the fans and alums a favor and stay home.

TigerKing - I'm not being nit-picky because I think you're making a good observation, but your inclusion of OWU and Witt, while excluding the big blowouts, made me chuckle.  After 3 quarters Wabash led OWU 31-0 (maybe it's just your definition of "big"), and the Witt game was 52-6 after three.  The Hiram game was closer at that point (by a single point - lol).

I excluded Kenyon/Oberlin/Hiram because I don't think they're applicable.  Wabash would've won all three with a backup QB.  Thompson only rushed for 28 against Kenyon, but I'm assuming he could've gone for well over 100 if it was needed.

OWU and Wooster are typically capable of making a game, so even though they ended up being blowouts I included those.  Same with the Witt game.  "Bigger games going into them" might have been a better qualifier.  Either way, I think Thompson's yards on the ground will be a big factor on Saturday!

Turnovers are always big in this game, but to me the next biggest marker is going to be Thompson's rushing stats.  In wins this year (excluding the big blowouts) vs. HSC, OWU, COW, and Witt he rushed for 65, 87, 201, and 78.  In losses against Butler, Witt, *Denison* and DPU '22 he netted 9, 41, and 30.  There aren't any great stats to account for his completions off of scrambles, but the net rushing takes sacks into account.

If #2 rushes/scrambles for 70+ on Saturday the Tigers are in trouble.  If he's held below 40, and the Cavemen have a hard time moving the ball.  Anything in the 50s-60s could mean a toss up.

Also, I obviously meant Denison, not Witt

TigerKing - makes sense.

By the way - no divorces or DUIs, and 3 Bell wins for me.
It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Recognize the difference.

A "3-tech" is when the ref throws a flag, hat, and the bean bag, right?

Looks like Saturday's forecast is for sunshine and temps in the 50s!

Perfect Bell weather. I'm looking forward to this being a great game. As Dean B pointed out above the underdog has lost won this game more than enough for the favorite to pay attention.

I sincerely hope for a classic Bell Game and a return of the Bell where it belongs. WAF.

This is is funny. Does this guy think we *want* to lose the Bell Game?

I'm not going to feel out of touch at all. I've been watching Wabash football for nearly a quarter of a century. If you want to throw out insults, then go right ahead. It's a free country.

If you want to actually discuss things, then by all means jump in. But you're apparently just here for a drive by insult like a coward if you're an "only time poster".

If you're actually an alumnus, then you clearly didn't participate in many discussions in class, or at least not well.

If you're not an alumnus, then who cares what you think?

If you are an alumnus, take your sanctimonious judgment and stick it where the Bell doesn't ring, anonymous coward. We all know who each other is. You want to sound off, let us know your name and class year. Until then, gfy.

Divorce 3's post reminded me of Lee Elia's rant against Cubs fans.

I orignally posted the link, but WAY TOO profane. It can be found on Youtube but be warned of ridiculous language!

When Wabash wins the Bell, this pompous old man is going to celebrate like crazy.  The success of the Wabash athletic teams has an impact on student recruitment and alumni giving.  So, this proud Wabash alumnus pays very close attention to the success of Wabash athletic programs, advocates for program enhancements to foster this success, and makes (modest) financial contributions to try to make these things happen.  I know plenty of Wabash alums who feel EXACTLY the same way.  Wabash Always Fights.

Well that's sillier than the original post.

Normally I wouldn't approve someone whose email address was "boardpostingtroll" but I thought, hell, it's rivalry week. Maybe just for a moment, huh?

As an Oberlin Alumni whose season is usually over before it starts, this is the exact reason I continue reading this discussion board. The Monon Bell game gives way to some great conversation. To stir the pot a little, give me the Tigers 35 -24.
