I thought that Wabash played a great 1st quarter.

The second quarter couldn't have been worse in all facets.

4th and 19 - let's run a fake punt running with the shield in our own territory.

28 yards of offense in the 2nd quarter. This offense just isn't it - no explosion and the RB's aren't good enough to escape tacklers.

Can't expect to win a game when the opposing team starts with the ball on your side of the field six times.

Absolutely absurd that the HC/ Witt game had to be postponed.

I'd love to let the student athletes from each team have 10 minutes alone in a room with the nut jobs making these threats

Hiram College wins the inter-collegiate basketball world championship at the World's Fair Universal Exposition Olympic Games in St. Louis, Missouri. Final score: Hiram, 25; Latter Day Saints University, 18.

I am happy to see the note on the Witt webpage that they will return to in-person classes on Monday.

Wabash's punting didn't help, really missed Blake White in both aspects of his game.

Oberlin at DePauw next weekend.  They may need to add a third digit to the home score display on the Blackstock scoreboard.

Coach Gary Fasching when asked if Saint John's run up the score in 98-0 victory over St. Scholastica back in 2017 said, " No. We tried everything we could not to run it up. It was the perfect storm. Everything we did worked, and everything they tried didn't work."

Depauw might have to suggest 6 minute quarters.

A few quick hits on last week to revive the banter a bit, in no particular order -

-surprised by the Berry win over #10 RM.  If A > B and B > C then A > C does not always apply to football teams, ie. DePauw - Berry - RM, but it's good to see that sequence help DPU and the NCAC gain national recognition

-continuing strange stat lines for 'bash.  Strong offensive yardage, few turnovers, and opponent starts six drives in 'bash territory.  Going for it on 4th down and poor punting, I guess?  Another funny box score.  Backup QB must've looked solid against a tough opponent.

-Not a lot to say about DPU game -- lot of offensive output against a suspect D.  The clean up play of FY QB Scott Ballentine was a plus -- he looked efficient and sharp.

-Surprised also by the Denison 14-0 score over Kenyon.  What happened there?

-Finally, what is the impact of Witt's cancellation?  If they were to end up in a tie with the same number of losses in conference play, but fewer wins, what would happen?  Or will they make up the Hiram game?

Welcome informed comments on any or all of this -

p.s. correction -- not a tie for Witt in that scenario, but a half-game deficit potentially if they had one fewer win.

I watched the entire Denison/Kenyon game.  The final score is tricky to assess.  The teams played relatively even; it was 0-0 at the half. Denison scored to make it 7-0.  They held that lead until late in the 4th qtr when they got a break and scored again with 1:30 left, so the late TD does not really reflect the Kenyon effort.  Both teams struggled to move the ball, and Kenyon kept Fabrocini in check until he broke a long run late in the game.  Frankly, I was surprised that the game was so close.  Denison started a new QB-- a freshman named Green.  I don't know if the former starter was injured or they just decided to try someone else.
Anyway, a good effort by Kenyon.

FY Tyler Green started to QB against Alma as well.

Busy fall, and haven't been as active in the D3 world yet... will pay more attention going forward.  Saturday was the first DPU game I've watched this year, and they looked sharp.  I was surprised to see they held Mateo Renteria to 0 yds passing for the 2nd year straight.

On a whim, I flipped on the livestream of the DPU/Rose JV game Sunday afternoon.  Turns out Dietz is the announcer on the PA for the home JV games.  I thought that said a lot about the program he's building, and is one of the many reasons for the success the Tigers are having.  Cool stuff.

Congratulations to Kenyon!  Last weeks close score maybe wasn't an anomaly.

What a barn-burner!  Luthor beats Anderson 9-6 to win its first game in five years.  Surprisingly, there were no field goals in the game.
It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Recognize the difference.

Luther won two games in 2022. Their losing streak was "only" 12.
